random happenings

1 + 2.  Th Emu Plains Market on Saturday.  It was a great way to spend the afternoon and evening, a big crowd and fabulous stall holders, my sister the florist, made some little jar posies for my stall this time and they really added some lovely colour.  Lovely to meet a few readers of this little blog too! :)

3. It's been pretty hot here recently, so I like to give my chooks a little treat to cool them down.  They adore cold watermelon from the fridge, their heads were in a pecking frenzy!

4. Close up of one of the jar posies my sister made, I got to keep this one! :)

5. Great thing about Summer - cherry season!  So delicious and shiny. :)

6 + 7. Some of my recent crochet makes, I haven't been showing much crochet over here because I seem to always be making the same things and I don't want to bore you silly! lol.  I promise to make something different soon! :)

8. A bit of colourful yarny love to put a smile on your face, so cheery and bright, this Nikkim Cotton is so lovely!

9. Earlier today, bushfire in our town, this is looking over our back fence.  A lot of huge smoke clouds that would billow up very dark and dirty, then billow up very white and fluffy, it was weird and scary. A bit too close to home for my liking.  One house was burnt down, but it could have been a lot worse, we have fabulous CFA and fire brigades around here, and the community really pulls together and looks out for each other. Makes me proud of our little town!  Heres hoping there are no more fire dramas for Crib Point this Summer. Fingers crossed.

How has your week been?

Stills from my week....

1. Finished things that I made for the Emu Plains Market ( that seems like ages ago!).  Time to start making again for the next one. :)

2.  It is rose season around here, and I cannot get enough of these showy girls.  The scent is just divine, and I love how full this variety is.  Happy days!

3 +4 +5.  I have been very absent from these parts recently, (so much for my attempt to post every day of October, my poor neglected blog!) one of the reasons is all the new yarn that has been coming into the shop over the last few weeks, so many lovely distractions and lots of happy work packing it into shelves and sending out orders.  These are some of the new hand dyed organic cottons from Sourth Africa, so very lush.......but I will be giving them a post of their own shortly! :)

6. I captured this beautiful sunrise on the weekend when we had a night away at Torquay staying at the RACV resort at the Golf Club.   The sky was very spectacular, it makes me wonder why I don't get up early every morning to see the sun rise. :)

7 +8 +9 .  It is also poppy time in the garden at the moment, these beauties self seed all over the place and I always love to see the new combinations that appear each year.  Lats year there were lots of single flowered pink shades, this year there are lots more mauves and super frilly doubles.  So lovely!
The bees adore them, the sound is amazing, all that humming and buzzing!

--------------------------------------------------

Hopefully I'll be back tomorrow with something that might be interesting to you, I am working hard on so many different things at the moment, it feels like I have too many balls in the air at once, and I still have to show you all the new yarns that are in stock!!

So what have you been up to recently?

Washer week....

Hello there!
I hope you all had a lovely weekend, it was freezing here, typical Melbourne winter really!
The light has been very dull for taking photos, and without photos I don't really have anything to blog about!
But I thought I'd show you what I've been up to recently anyway, bad light and all.
I have been trying a new way of organising myself to make things for the market season that starts in a couple of months.  I always think I'll make heaps of stock in the off season and have lovely full stalls for the market, but what usually happens is that I don't do much for most of the time and then am frantic in the last 3 weeks!  So this year I am trying to make something different each week until the market season begins, last week was washcloth week, and this week is beanie week, so I'll see how many beanies I can make in 7 days.

These photos are of the washcloths that I have made so far, they still need edges, but at least it is a start!  There are so many lovely colour combinations to do, I am going to schedule another washer week in a month or so.

I have also been busy in the shop, I've had lots of lovely new yarns coming in, well four new ones anyway!  Who would have thought you could spend so much time phaffing around with wool! :)
So lots of photos to take and uploading to do, I'm hoping for a brighter day tomorrow!
Oh and I have Clover hooks for sale now too, and pompom makers!! Yay!
So a big day of updating my shop tomorrow!

So that's a bit of what I've been doing, what have you been up to recently?

Snap shots

1.  How does Frank always seem to find the most comfortable spot in the house to have a snooze?
It must be his special catty senses, he can sniff out a pile of
blankets from the other end of the house. :)

2 + 3 + 4.  Crochet making this week, I've been making things for the last EmuPlains Market for this season, so some striped hats, hearty washers and flower embellishment packs, I have a few more hats to go and then its onto slippers if I have time. :)  As soon as this market is over I am starting a new blanket!

5. . Studio progress shot, well actually it is all finished, and I am moving things in this week, but I am going do a proper tadah  post and a little photo tour of it very soon, ( it is looking so good!)  so here is how it looked with the floors finished and the painting done.
I ended up just going with a white called "Snow Egg' for the walls and ceiling, as I think it will be easier to let the yarn colours shine this way.  The rest  of our house is VERY colourful so I have actually found it quite good to give my eyes a colour rest, and really noticed all the colours in our kitchen/family room when I go back inside, it is a bit like sensory over load!

6. Just a cute shot of some colourful things.
Love my flower canisters, they are finding a new home in my wool studio of course!

Have you got a big week ahead?
I hope you find time to do some fun things too, it's important to do things that make you happy don't you think?

last week....

Last week...

1. ...I was hooking up washers for the market. I love choosing the colour combos for these, there are so many nice possibilities.

2. ...the rosellas found the apple trees.  They are really beautiful birds, but they will probably strip all the fruit from the trees well before they are ready for us to eat.

3. ... this gaudy, gorgeous dahlia flowered! Yay!

4 +5  ... I had a stall at the twilight market at Emu Plains, it was packed with people and I really enjoyed meeting some peeps who knew of this blog!!

6. ... hooked up a colour swatch for a customer.

7 ... I started a new 'wheels within wheels' blanket, this time in blues and greens, I think it will look good. :)

8. ...the apricots started to ripen! yay! I love a tree ripened apricot, so much better than anything you can buy from the shops.  My parents tree is laden this year, so much so that branches are breaking under all the weight! I am thinking a couple of batches of jam and a big pot of stewed apricots are going to be made soon!

-----------------------------------------

That's a few bits of my last week, I had an unintentional bloggy break as well, I just couldn't find time to sit at the computer or take many photos.  I have a heap of emails to respond to and they didn't get touched either.  Sorry for being a bad communicator!  I am hoping to get back into a rhythm soon and find the blogging routine again.  Do you find your blogging mojo ebbs and flows?

What did you get up to last week?
Got any big plans for this one?

Makings this week.....

Hello! How are you going today?
I'm just popping by here to share a few crochet makes from this week, I have been so busy finishing things off for the market on Saturday, i have had no time for blogging or anything else really!

....I've made some more little booties, this time in sizes that will actually fit on little feet (the last lot I made were very cute but far too tiny!).........

....and I have made 5 more heart washers, tonight I have to edge them all, so I am going to have a little Deadwood marathon ( I am really enjoying this series, Bullock is very cool! ).....

........and I have finished off my little decorations with a picot edge. I crocheted two flower circles together so they are the same both sides and can twirl around without looking terrible on one side.....

So now I am off to my edging, I might try and take a little photographic tour of the market this time and show you some of the lovely stalls, there are plenty of them!

Talk soon......

weekly stills.....

weekly stills.......a bit of a colour hit for you this week.

1. My pile of washers grows, I'm loving all the Cascade cotton colours.

2+3. I cleaned up my sideboard yesterday, I got rid of all the papers and other crap that seems to get dumped on there, and now I can see all my cute things! Yay!

4. Making granny squares today for some Spring bunting for my stall in a couple of weeks, fun!

5+6.  Spring garden lovelies. Tulips are flowering!  I have some beautiful colours growing this year, one of my favs are these gorgeous dark purple 'Queen of the Night', so lovely.  I have grown the parrot tulips for the first time this year and I am in love with their over the top frilly bits!   Definitely going on my list to plant again next year.

7. My veggie patch looks a bit jungle like at the moment, some serious attention needed in there if I am going to get the summer stuff planted.

8. Poppy love.  Another favourite flowering at the moment.

9. Loving all the colours in these tins and crochet stuff.

What's happening in your world at the moment?
