2 blankets

Hello! How has your week been?

I have been busy with lots of making recently, so please forgive my very sporadic posting over here, I feel bad that my blog is being neglected, but am hopeful I will have more to share and more time to do so soon!
Anyway, today I thought I'd show you a couple of blankets I have been working on, one finished and one still in pieces.  I really love making blankets, crochet is such a good blanket making craft!

Firstly I have made another neon stripe blanket for a lovely customer, it is always fun to make these single crochet stripe blankets, even if there are a million ends to weave in.
I think it has turned out well, and I hope the new owners will like it!

The second blanket I am making is just for fun, the sunburst granny squares blanket using up lots of odds and ends in my stash basket.  I am having a lot of fun with these squares!

....lots of loud colour combos......

......getting things all squared up with a calm grey, I have finished squaring all the circles up now, so just have to weave in the grey ends and sew it together.  Should have it finished this week. Yay!
I'm hoping to make a few of these for the shop, to showcase some of the colourful wool I sell.

I am thinking about making extra squares for a few cushion covers, and I would love a couple of sunburst pillow cases for my bed too!  So many ideas, so little time!

I had better get back to the making of stuff, and hopefully I will have a newsletter out today with all the latest things from Little Woollie Makes. ( But don't hold me to it! :) )

Neon stripes - Tadah!

Hello!  How is your week going?  I am actually keeping very busy with crochet type things, I have received a couple of orders for things from people who visited my stall at the market, which is a lovely bonus and means I will be  kept busy with the hook for the next week or so.  I feel like I almost have a 'proper' job with all my different yarny endeavours - the market, orders and my online shop and blog all add up to keeping me pretty busy, I am so happy that I can work for myself with such a nice variety of tasks to do day to day, I feel very lucky!  Thank you all for the lovely encouragement and support you wonderful crafty peeps have given to me over the last few years, it really is worth following your dreams, I am so glad I decided to follow mine! xxx

So anyway, I thought I'd show you how my neon stripe blanket finished up, I crocheted the edge last night and I think it has turned out really well!  I am really liking the grey with the brights, I hope my lovely customer, like it too, it will be winging it's way across the ocean very soon!

.....here's how it looks flat out, it has ended up about cot sized I think, and took about 18 balls of wool!

In case anyone is interested, the yarns I used were:
Zara for the neon stripes, 1 ball of each colour, and Loyal DK in the dark grey 13 balls.
It is just the basic skinny stripe pattern of 1 double row of sc in a neon colour, alternated with 4 double rows of grey. My other skinny stripe blankets with single stripes of colour are here and here.

Have a great hooky day!

Neon colours - new wool in the shop!

Hello!
How has your day been?
It has been wet and stormy here, pretty horrible really.

I have had my shopkeepers hat on today, uploading photos and products into my shop, so
I thought I'd show you some of the amazing coloured wool that has arrived in the shop this week.
I am really excited to have neon colours in merino wool now available.
These new neon colours from Zara are so out there, in a good way!!.

As part of my focus on having great coloured yarns in my shop, I have been looking for quite a while for some neon colours, but had only been able to find the odd one in scratchy acrylic.
I am so pleased that Filatura di Crosa have bought out these neons in their gorgeous superfine merino Zara 8ply,  I was really missing some power shots of colour that these neons bring!  I'm thinking that a grey blanket with some shots of neon through it would look very cool.

I think with Summer coming up something bright and colourful and a little bit neon could be coming off my hook, just got to find the right pattern!  :)

I'll be back tomorrow with a little giveaway for you all too :)
Have a lovely day!
