This week.....

A few things from my week......

1+2+3. Update on my blanket progress, it's all joined together and I am onto the edge now, then it needs a good blocking!  I don't have a picture of the edge at the moment, but it really makes a difference and I think it looks great !  Hopefully have a tadah for this one later in the week.  :)

4. Cotton, crochet books and mags looking pretty on the table :)  Just as nice as a bowl of fruit and I don't have to throw out a heap of rotting fruit when it doesn't get eaten! Win!

5. Halfway through a Summer sky cloud washer, hope to have it ready for the market on Saturday....

6. My favourite dahlias are flowering, don't you love this dark purple/pink/maroon colour!  I really love their showiness and massive size, so over the top, they have to be in my top five flowers. :)

7. This may look just like a boring garage to you, and yes it is, but it is also a before shot of my new Little Woollie Makes studio!!  Imagine this, those big iron doors are going, and some lovely glass french doors and a couple of windows are going to replace them.  The windows and doors arrived today and I cannot wait to get the next stage done.  The bricks are getting plastered and painted, and the floors getting lino or carpet, I haven't decided yet. And I am getting news lighting too!  Then the fun really starts with the decorating. ....So exciting!

So, that's a bit of what I have been up to lately, how about you?

Talk soon!

Wheels within Wheels update....

Hello! It has been busy around here recently!
I have been hooking away at these circles and I think the end is in sight!
What do you think of the cream background?  I am really happy how it is looking so far, I think the blues and greens will stand out nicely and make good pops of colour.
My pile of squares is now much bigger than my pile of circles, and I am going to try really hard to finish them off tonight and then sew them all together tomorrow.  I am wondering if I should block each individual square or if I could sew them together and then block the whole blanket....

This fab pattern is Wheels within Wheels by Frankie Brown, I found it on Ravelry. :)

Okay,  I have to go and get busy with my hook!
Talk soon  xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Progress....

Hello! Just quickly popping in here today to show you what I've been working on recently and why I have so little computer time at the minute!
My latest 'Wheels within Wheels' blanket is coming along nicely, I am down to the last 12 circles and then I can start squaring them up.  I am really happy with the colour palette in this one, it's starting to remind me of peacock feathers and tropical beaches :)

This is my little suitcase of unfinished things, there is my heart blanket that I was really trying to have ready for a Valentine Day treat, but I don't think it will be ready by then :(
I'm planning today that I will get a few a more circles finished and choose the background yarn.  It's good to have achievable goals!
One of the things I am trying to do this year is be more realistic about what I am capable of and what can actually be done in a day, rather than setting these huge lists of tasks that never get done and make me feel bad and unproductive.   I am hoping it will help me focus on getting more things finished and stop me putting off jobs that I don't want to do.  Time will tell.

So, onward with the day!
Have you got anything special planned today?

It's the last day of the Summer holiday's here so I guess I had better check the boys uniforms are clean and everything is ready for the return to school routine tomorrow.  I have a lot of wool shop catching up to do when I have the house to myself again, new colours to upload, crochet classes to plan and a newsletter to write.  I'm looking forward to it! :)

Have a lovely day!

Skinny Stripe Blanket #2 - Seaside version finished!

Hello there!  I hope you all had great weekends, it was pretty quiet around here, we had no real plans this weekend so it was nice just to mooch around and enjoy the winter sunshine.  Being home meant that I finished off my second skinny stripe blanket! Yay!  So of course I had to take some pictures of it all completed.  You probably are sick of seeing this blanket, but just in case you are not, here is a few photos of it is all its cool colour glory!

I have decided to call this one Seaside Skinny Stripe, because it has a bit of a beachy feel to it I think.

I chose grey for the edge, and did my fallback picot edge treatment, I still really like this simple edging!

I guess it is cot sized or a reasonable knee rug, here it is all laid out on a single bed.

I like this side with the crisp lines of colour all standing out clearly from each other.....

....and here it is added to the growing pile of blankets in my stash of finished things.  I think I'll call the colourful one the Jellybean Skinny Stripe, it's a nice playful name.

So here is some info about this new blanket:

Size 89cm x77cm, 8ply (DK) pure wool, 3.5mm hook.

Wool colours used: ( approximately 1-2 50g balls of each colour)

Loyal DK
mid blue
electric blue
aqua
midgreen
spearmint
duck egg blue

Heirloom Colorworks 8ply
teal green
lime
grey
cream

Heirloom Babywool 8ply
pale mint
pale blue
light aqua

Merino Magic 8ply
celery

Plus I used 2 balls of extra grey for the edge, you could use what ever colour you liked though.

I have a few scraps left of various blues and greens and added one or two rows of these too until they ran out.
The pattern was random in that there is no colour repeat, although I did try and balance the colour stripes as I went. Just rows of sc (dc) in different colours, that's about it!

I stock these wools in my shop over here if you would like to make one for yourself!

Have you got much on this week?  I am going on a quick road trip to Sydney to pick up something very exciting!  Well, I think it is anyway, I can't wait to show you what I have acquired, something I have been wanting to learn for a long time.  I think I have steep learning curve ahead of me.
I'm doing that on Wednesday and will be back Friday, so will show you all then! Eek!

Ok so that's about all for today, talk soon!

Crochet Harlequin Blanket #4

Hello.
I seem to be on a bit of a roll recently and have a finished blanket to show for it!  This is another Harlequin blanket in a lovely cool colours.  I like how this one turned out.  I think these diamond blankets would make good cot blankets and have tried to make them around that size, although I don't have a cot in the house anymore to test them out!

This one was made using the tapestry crochet technique again, I really love crocheting this way!
So heres a little bit of info if anyone is interested,  the yarn I used and the colours:

Loyal DK:
Spearmint 915
Mid green 928
Teal green 936
Duck egg blue 945
Pale blue green 932
Aqua 931
Mid blue 924
dark grey 905

Colorworks:
Lime 408

BabyWool 8ply:
Light aqua 456

Some colours I used for one row and some I repeated for a bit of balance.
( These are some of the wools I stock in my shop)

Anyway, on to the next thing now.  I think I'd like to make another skinny stripe blanket, I have some colours picked out that I think would look great all striped together.  We'll see.  Or these blues and greens would be good for a skinny stripe too.  Hmmmm......

Have you finished anything recently?
What are you making now?
