Crochet Harlequin Blanket #4

Hello.
I seem to be on a bit of a roll recently and have a finished blanket to show for it!  This is another Harlequin blanket in a lovely cool colours.  I like how this one turned out.  I think these diamond blankets would make good cot blankets and have tried to make them around that size, although I don't have a cot in the house anymore to test them out!

This one was made using the tapestry crochet technique again, I really love crocheting this way!
So heres a little bit of info if anyone is interested,  the yarn I used and the colours:

Loyal DK:
Spearmint 915
Mid green 928
Teal green 936
Duck egg blue 945
Pale blue green 932
Aqua 931
Mid blue 924
dark grey 905

Colorworks:
Lime 408

BabyWool 8ply:
Light aqua 456

Some colours I used for one row and some I repeated for a bit of balance.
( These are some of the wools I stock in my shop)

Anyway, on to the next thing now.  I think I'd like to make another skinny stripe blanket, I have some colours picked out that I think would look great all striped together.  We'll see.  Or these blues and greens would be good for a skinny stripe too.  Hmmmm......

Have you finished anything recently?
What are you making now?

Weekly stills.....

Weekly stills.....

1. Pin cushion colour pop.

2. My green shelf kind of glowing in the afternoon light.

3. I bought this drafting table in from the cold so to speak, it belonged to my great uncle who was an artist, and has been sitting in our garage piled high with stuff.  Much happier here where I can sit an ponder and create up a storm.

4. Same corner of the living room in the winter sun.

5. Finished the blue/green harlequin this week. Yay!  I think it deserves it's own post later in the week.

6. Melbourne wandering on the long weekend.  I love that lady's wooly jacket and fluffy hair.

7+8. Sun, clouds and vineyards on the way home, it is a nice drive back from the city to our spot.

How was your week?

Autumn Harlequin progress....

Hello!
Just popping in for a quick chat tonight :)   I've been busy hooking away at my Autumn harlequin blanket and it is growing!!  I have given myself a little challenge to see how quickly I can hook this blanket up, and I am snatching a row here and a row there whenever I can, and I am enjoying each new colour change, it makes the progress seem so much quicker.  I am really enjoying this autumnal colour scheme, I think I will try another blanket in similar colours maybe a stripy one....

Anyhoo, this is making me a very happy hooker indeed!! :)  I am really looking forward to seeing how it looks all finished, (hopefully by the end of the weekend) I wonder what colour I should pick out for the edge?
 Hmmmm...decisions, decisions!

Got any projects on the go that are making you happy at the moment?

New year, new/old blanket love

Hello.
So, back to a bit of crafty news after all the New Year festivities are over,
I have been busy with the crochet hook recently, I love how through the holiday period I can craft at leisure, and during the day!
I am still a bit in love with the harlequin pattern, and am making a blanket using the tapestry crochet technique.  Pretty much the same as my washcloths but made in 8ply wool and a fair bit bigger!  I am using hdcs instead of sc to give a more diamond shape.
This is hooking up nice and quickly so I hope to have it finished soon.

Lots of colour here, nice and bright and cheery......

I am liking the bit of orange, I was going for a bit of a carnival look and I think it helps.

....It will probably end up roughly cot sized once I add a border ......

.....I dragged out the other diamond blanket I have on the go, quite a different process and far more time consuming, but I like the patchworky effect of sewing all the diamonds together......then again, I like the flatness of the tapestry technique too.  Must try and get this one finished too.......

I should have some time over the weekend to do some more on these, so hopefully something finished to show you all soon!

Have you been doing any holiday hooky?

Diamond crochet progress...

Hello!

Today I thought I'd show you how my diamonds are looking all sewn together.  Remember I had lots of piles of colourful diamonds all over the place?  They are quite addictive and quick to make.

Well. I have been very good and working consistently to sew all the diamonds that I've made so far into one big diamond piece of blanket.  Today I sewed the last one I've completed into the big blanket, and it felt great!  Like I was actually achieving something.  Now I am giving myself permission to go ahead and made another heap of diamonds for the next bit of this blanket.

So anyway, here is what I've been up to the last few days or so........

.......pinning and stitching, I'm so glad I left long tails at the start and finish of each diamond, I am using them to stitch it all together so I hope there won't be too many ends to weave in......

....this is what it looks like all laid out, cute, no?

...lots of fun colour play has gone into the lay out of the diamonds, I could have kept playing around with combinations forever, but no, I Knuckled Down and now it is partway finished, yay!

I really like the way this is shaping up, colours, patchworkyness, solid and stripes pattern, nice chunky thickness and crochet and sewing all together, a great variety of crafty niceness. I think this will be a square blanket, so lots more diamonds are needed, all in good time!

...So, I am pleased to have something solid that I've made progress on these holidays, we have really not done much at all, so at least things are looking up on the crafty front.  I have even done a few rows on the mixed stitch blanket and hope to have the next update very soon!

Think I might join in over at Our Creative Space today, have a look what the others are up to if you want a bit of crafty inspiration.
