Helloooo! It's been a while....

Well that 4 months just disappeared!  I really don't know why my poor blog has been so neglected, and have no excuses other than time has just been flying by and my "I'll get to my blog tomorrow" mantra never really stuck!  

Oh well, I have lots of things to share with you anyway, so at least that is something! :) 

Today I have to let you know that I am running a Winter Yarny Love Club,  and there are only a few days left to sign up!  Sorry about the short notice! :)  It costs the same as the Autumn Club, and there is more info in my shop over here.

So what has been filling all my time away from my beloved blog?  

I have been crocheting (of course), and have been making some amigurumi animals, and a new blanket, plus lots of little things!
I've been doing the Markets, although the season has finished now so I'm technically restocking over winter with lots of new products!

I've held quite a few workshops in my studio which has been fun, (I will post the ones for June on here tomorrow to let everyone know what's going on). 

I have been adding new yarns to my shop and dreaming about new projects to make with them.

I have learnt to hand dye wool!  So much fun and definitely worthy of a separate post !

I am knitting socks with my handdyed wool, so great to see how the colours knit up. :) 

I am having a stall at the Australian Sheep and Wool Show in Bendigo in July, so am starting to plan what I'm taking, putting kits together and dyeing up some of my own wool as well as some gorgeous yarns from around the world. 

And I have some exciting plans in the works for my little wool shop, fingers crossed I can share them with you all soon! 

Thanks to everyone who has left comments over the last few months, I have just logged on to find them all sitting there waiting to be approved!  :)

happy days in the shop

I gave my little studio/shop a bit of a tidy up this morning, all ready for a big year ahead. It really is my happy space,  and I have a lot of fun organising all the pretty yarns.  I am very lucky to spend my days surrounded by so much colour! :) 

I have quite a few lovely yarns that are on my wish list to stock this year, I'm hoping that I will have some interesting stock to share with you all through out 2017.  

I'm always interested in sourcing new yarns, there are just so many fabulous  yarn houses out there!  Sometimes it is tricky making contact as a small yarn retailer, but I am trying to overcome my introverted nature and put myself out there more often.  I really don't have anything to loose, the worse they can say is no! :) 

Do you have a favourite yarn?  

Do you have any suggestions for colourful yarns for me to stock?  

Hello 2017

Hello there! 

Happy New Year crafty peeps! :) 

I hope you have all had a great end of 2016, I seem to have fallen off the blogging wagon over the last few months, but you know what they say, new year, new you!  I am going to find my way back to a blogging rhythm because I have missed recording my crafty-yarny adventures over here.   

Anyway, I always like to set a few goals at this time of year, I very rarely seem to achieve them but I like to start the year with good intentions! 

*This year I'd like to grow more of our food, my vegie patch was sadly neglected in 2016, I'm starting to get it firing up again, but there are still a lot of areas out of control!

*I'd like to get fitter, and my perennial goal of losing some weight and getting healthier is still on the list!  ( I somehow managed to gain a heap of weight in 2016 rather than lose it! )

*I'd like to keep on top of my housework.  Since my wool shop is taking up more of my time,  I'm finding it harder to keep our house running smoothly, I'm going to try and be more organised with things.  Wish me luck, I'll be fighting my natural messy tendencies, so this might be a difficult one! 

*I have lots of ideas for my wool shop and new yarns I'd like to stock, I'm going to try and work consistently and not let time run away from me.  I am also going to try and budget better so I don't have cash flow issues that hold my plans up! 

* I'd like to learn the tunisian crochet technique and also do more knitting, in particular sock knitting.  I have so many gorgeous sock yarns in my stash and I want to start using them!

*I want to send out my Little Woollie Makes Yarn Store newsletter at least once a month, I didn't 

achieve this last year and need to get consistent! 

*I'm planning on blogging more consistently too, hopefully 5 times a week.  I had a lot of things to share during December, but time just ran out for blogging, so this year I'm going to be organised and not let things get on top of me.  

I think that will be plenty for me to focus on, I'm sensing a theme, organisation and consistency! 

Do you set goals in the new year too?  Or do you like to see how the year unfolds and go with the flow?

I am not great at keeping up the momentum of goal setting, so we will see how this year goes, if it's any different from other years.....

Around my place lately...

1. I seem to be constantly making crochet flowers, luckily they are fairly quick and I get to play with lots of colour! 

2. A bag full of booties, these were an attempt to build some stock up for the market season, another fun thing to make, with lots of colour play!  :)  (Pattern: Galilee Booties by Mamachee)

3. Lovely Zara 8ply fine merino, I'm having a little sale in my shop with 20% off Zara, Charly 14ply, and Sportwool 8ply. 

4 + 5. I've been making a new stripy triangle bunting, I really like these elongated flags in the gelato colours of MoYa Cotton, I think I'll stick the pattern up here, might be a nice thing to make for Christmas decorating or gifting. :) 

6. Frank and Tiger have decided they like to have their day long naps as close to each other as possible, in this instance they squished onto my little cushion, it doesn't look very comfy! 

7. finishing things off for the market last weekend .....

8. ....and my stall at the Emu Plains Market last Saturday, I love this market, so many beautiful stalls to check out!  It was a bit windy on the day, but we managed not to blow away! :) 

9.  Spring pickings from my flower garden, I love this time of year, the freesias and tulips have been fabulous and now sweetpeas and poppies are starting! :) 

It's been a while since I've been around here on my blog, it's tricky juggling all the different social media, I find myself neglecting the blog, despite my good intentions the days just slip away!!

it's been a while.......

Hello there! 

How are you all? Good I hope! 

I thought it was about time I blew the cobwebs off my poor neglected blog and stuck something up here.  It does feel like a long time since I last posted, life has been rather busy and each day has just run into the next and before you know it months are passing! 

So here's a little catch up post, and then hopefully I will get back into some form of regular posting. 

I have been doing lots of making; washers and flowers feature heavily, as well as finishing off my Sunburst granny square blanket, it deserves it's own post I think, it is pretty cute! 

My wool shop has been keeping me occupied with lots of lovely new stock arriving for the winter months ahead.  I still have lots of yarns on my wish list, but I'm slowly getting a great range of beautiful yarns in stock, so that is making me very happy.  I really need to spend more time on promotion and marketing, but I guess we all have our strengths and weaknesses when it comes to business.  Everything seems to take a lot more time than I anticipate! 

......recent heart washer on the hook, I like this colour combo, but then again I love so many of the colours in the Cascade Ultra Pima, it is hard to choose which combo to try next.........

.....the couch had become a bit of a yarny dumping spot, I really need to try and keep things tidier in here! ........

....I seem to have these little piles of colourful makings all over the shop, it does make me feel good catching glimpses of them all day long.......

This is a squishy pile of Misti Alpaca Handpainted Chunky, so many beautiful shades in there, And some new ones coming later in the month. I can't wait!

random happenings

1 + 2.  Th Emu Plains Market on Saturday.  It was a great way to spend the afternoon and evening, a big crowd and fabulous stall holders, my sister the florist, made some little jar posies for my stall this time and they really added some lovely colour.  Lovely to meet a few readers of this little blog too! :)

3. It's been pretty hot here recently, so I like to give my chooks a little treat to cool them down.  They adore cold watermelon from the fridge, their heads were in a pecking frenzy! 

4. Close up of one of the jar posies my sister made, I got to keep this one! :) 

5. Great thing about Summer - cherry season!  So delicious and shiny. :) 

6 + 7. Some of my recent crochet makes, I haven't been showing much crochet over here because I seem to always be making the same things and I don't want to bore you silly! lol.  I promise to make something different soon! :) 

8. A bit of colourful yarny love to put a smile on your face, so cheery and bright, this Nikkim Cotton is so lovely! 

9. Earlier today, bushfire in our town, this is looking over our back fence.  A lot of huge smoke clouds that would billow up very dark and dirty, then billow up very white and fluffy, it was weird and scary. A bit too close to home for my liking.  One house was burnt down, but it could have been a lot worse, we have fabulous CFA and fire brigades around here, and the community really pulls together and looks out for each other. Makes me proud of our little town!  Heres hoping there are no more fire dramas for Crib Point this Summer. Fingers crossed.

Stills from my week....

1. Finished things that I made for the Emu Plains Market ( that seems like ages ago!).  Time to start making again for the next one. :) 

2.  It is rose season around here, and I cannot get enough of these showy girls.  The scent is just divine, and I love how full this variety is.  Happy days! 

3 +4 +5.  I have been very absent from these parts recently, (so much for my attempt to post every day of October, my poor neglected blog!) one of the reasons is all the new yarn that has been coming into the shop over the last few weeks, so many lovely distractions and lots of happy work packing it into shelves and sending out orders.  These are some of the new hand dyed organic cottons from Sourth Africa, so very lush.......but I will be giving them a post of their own shortly! :) 

6. I captured this beautiful sunrise on the weekend when we had a night away at Torquay staying at the RACV resort at the Golf Club.   The sky was very spectacular, it makes me wonder why I don't get up early every morning to see the sun rise. :) 

7 +8 +9 .  It is also poppy time in the garden at the moment, these beauties self seed all over the place and I always love to see the new combinations that appear each year.  Lats year there were lots of single flowered pink shades, this year there are lots more mauves and super frilly doubles.  So lovely! 

The bees adore them, the sound is amazing, all that humming and buzzing!

Hopefully I'll be back tomorrow with something that might be interesting to you, I am working hard on so many different things at the moment, it feels like I have too many balls in the air at once, and I still have to show you all the new yarns that are in stock!!
