Hello.
So for my creative space today I am sewing rows of squares together for my mini square winter blanket. This is going to be a large blanket, I am doing 20 squares across and want about 30 rows, so many squares to go yet!
I've decided to sew the squares together it rows as I go, through the back loop only, I think it should be an almost invisible join if I am careful.
It is fun to see this grow, I hope I can keep up the momentum for this blanket, I thought it would make a good bed spread for one of the boys, but Max told me he doesn't want it as the colours are too boring.! So I guess I'll see if the older 2 like it (probably will be completely disinterested and I'll get the standard 'meh' response, crochet is not really on their radar :) ) My darling teenagers.
Maybe I'll go for 40 rows and put it on my bed!
Have a great day!
Have a look over here if you've got a few spare minutes to see what the creative types have been up to this week.
Julie, I absolutely adore your colours!! They remind me of my childhood, and all the bits of wool left over from my Mum's hand knitted jumpers : -) So only a gazillion more squares to go!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the raspberry in between the greys and blues, and then the brighter greens as well! Mmm, looks like the tiny square blanket is THE thing top crochet...I'm scared of all those tiny squares!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of 40 rows. While that may imply more work, at least you know the recipient will appreciate it!!
ReplyDeletei love it

Oh, it will look really lovely when it's done! You have inspired me to go back to my square-a-day pledge for my square blanket, thank-you!

I just love squares and yours are scrummy!
ReplyDeleteLooks gorgeous. Can't wait to see it finished! You definitely inspired me to go home and sew my tiny squares too! Thank you and have a lovely day. Gaia.
ReplyDeleteGosh! So many tiny squares. Every color imaginable there and yet kids would find it boring. So funny. What color are you using to sew it all together? I've always wondered about that, never having joined a blanket like that before. Wishing you a wonderful day. Tammy
ReplyDeleteGo for 40 and put it on your own bed. When you do that much work, you want it to really be appreciated. I have about 30 of these little squares. I have no idea what I will do with them. Every once in a while I make some. Lol.
ReplyDeleteI used to get the 'meh' response from my oldest daughter when she was a teen, but now that she's older she actually requests crocheted blankets! It's one of the first things she wanted me to make for her husband! And she still has the afghans I made her as a child.
ReplyDeleteHey Jules, this blanket is definitely a labour of love , but it's going to look fabulous when it's finished.
ReplyDeleteAs for the boys, bet they'll be looking to pack up one of your blankets when it comes time to move out of home......

your work is absolutely stunning!!! i browsed through your previous post just quickly,my eye caught a stripey blanket that you were busy with...did you use a pattern for this?
ReplyDeletei will pop in again...:)
Made a large granny square blanket that was supposed to go on our couch for everyone to use while relaxing. Once it was done my teen-age son scooped it up and stole it into his room! It has never seen the couch! Now I am working on another I can finally put in the family room! :)
ReplyDeleteHa! You can put it on my bed, lol! So far my young man is still enjoying the things I hook up for him, but those teen years are coming! Looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteWow... this is awesome...
ReplyDeletelovely..
ReplyDeleteWow can't wait to see the finished product. I love the colours
ReplyDeleteHa this is so weird! I was thinking of doing a similar project recently but I am now inspired to just from seeing your color scheme. Thanks doll!
ReplyDeleteIt looks incredible, I don't know how you have the patience for so many squares (and so much sewing together!)
