Hello! How is your week going? I am actually keeping very busy with crochet type things, I have received a couple of orders for things from people who visited my stall at the market, which is a lovely bonus and means I will be kept busy with the hook for the next week or so. I feel like I almost have a 'proper' job with all my different yarny endeavours - the market, orders and my online shop and blog all add up to keeping me pretty busy, I am so happy that I can work for myself with such a nice variety of tasks to do day to day, I feel very lucky! Thank you all for the lovely encouragement and support you wonderful crafty peeps have given to me over the last few years, it really is worth following your dreams, I am so glad I decided to follow mine! xxx
So anyway, I thought I'd show you how my neon stripe blanket finished up, I crocheted the edge last night and I think it has turned out really well! I am really liking the grey with the brights, I hope my lovely customer, like it too, it will be winging it's way across the ocean very soon!
.....here's how it looks flat out, it has ended up about cot sized I think, and took about 18 balls of wool!
In case anyone is interested, the yarns I used were:
Zara for the neon stripes, 1 ball of each colour, and Loyal DK in the dark grey 13 balls.
It is just the basic skinny stripe pattern of 1 double row of sc in a neon colour, alternated with 4 double rows of grey. My other skinny stripe blankets with single stripes of colour are here and here.
Have a great hooky day!

ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! I'm sure its owner will adore it :)
ReplyDeleteAnd congrats on all the extra orders! That is wonderful!
What a happy looking blanket. I love it.
ReplyDeleteOh I love this one. What size hook do you use for your skinny stripe blankets?
ReplyDeleteHi Comberspud, I use a 3.5mm hook for the skinny stripe blankets. J xxxx
DeleteSo nice, it puts you in a happy mood just looking at it! : )
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to read you managed to make your dream come true, I hope to write something similar someday...
Wish you a nice day! xx
I am normally not a neon person (I think I just had too much of it in the 80's!), but this is an exception. It is a beautiful blanket - it is the perfect grey to offset the colors. Perfect!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so lovely! My sister-in-law is pregnant, I think I will make her a similar baby blanket. Just not with neon colors as she doesn't like them, but maybe with rainbow colors! Wonderful idea!
ReplyDeleteI like the striped blanket a lot. In October I finished a similar one. It is berry colored dc with jewel toned stripes in clusters. I did a single crochet edging. I hope someday to try a mixed stitch blanket. I am always fascinated and happy to look at pics of those that you created. Alexine in Maryland, US
ReplyDeleteBeautiful striped blanket! I love the neon stripes!
ReplyDeleteI am sure this blanket will be well loved :) 18 balls of yarn is a lot though - how many grams did they have?

Hi Julie! Such a gorgeous blanket! I totally love Neon colours and I always thought that a neutral colour such as grey sets them off splendidly! ;) What sort of yarn is this? I cannot seem to find Neon colours in anything else but Acrylics??? Any tips?

Hi Ingrid, Thanks for the nice comments, I have the same problem with only finding acrylic neons, but these are 100%fine merino wool, super soft and gorgeous to use, they are Zara wool, and I am now stocking them in my shop! xxxx
