Hello! How has your week been?
I have been busy with lots of making recently, so please forgive my very sporadic posting over here, I feel bad that my blog is being neglected, but am hopeful I will have more to share and more time to do so soon!
Anyway, today I thought I'd show you a couple of blankets I have been working on, one finished and one still in pieces. I really love making blankets, crochet is such a good blanket making craft!
Firstly I have made another neon stripe blanket for a lovely customer, it is always fun to make these single crochet stripe blankets, even if there are a million ends to weave in.
I think it has turned out well, and I hope the new owners will like it!
The second blanket I am making is just for fun, the sunburst granny squares blanket using up lots of odds and ends in my stash basket. I am having a lot of fun with these squares!
....lots of loud colour combos......
......getting things all squared up with a calm grey, I have finished squaring all the circles up now, so just have to weave in the grey ends and sew it together. Should have it finished this week. Yay!
I'm hoping to make a few of these for the shop, to showcase some of the colourful wool I sell.
I am thinking about making extra squares for a few cushion covers, and I would love a couple of sunburst pillow cases for my bed too! So many ideas, so little time!
I had better get back to the making of stuff, and hopefully I will have a newsletter out today with all the latest things from Little Woollie Makes. ( But don't hold me to it! :) )

I love the sunburst blanket and need to get down to get some more wool. I came across a NZ wool the other day with Possum fibre, it was gorgeous, have you seen it? Your blankets really are beautiful. X
ReplyDeleteI love your gray blanket Julie. I was just wondering, if you were making a double crochet blanket, how would you do the long sides for an edging? I know the one you made is single crochet , so your side edging would be singles,but on a double or even a half double crochet blanket , what would your gauge be? Do you do 2 singles for each double? and what so you do for half double on the side edging. Thanks for your help.

ReplyDeleteI am amazed at how quickly you knock up these blankets Julie. I am working on a granny stripe and I think it will take me forever! Love the bright colours against the grey in the neon, very fresh and modern.

ReplyDeleteBoth are lovely! I'm sure the recipient will love it! A wonderful idea to showcase what wool you sell in a project. I seem to have stalled in my heart blanket making, at the assembly stage. Just finished a yarn bombed bike for my garden though. ; D Hope it's a productive week!

ReplyDeleteI have a question about your Neon Stripe blanket, should you care to share the information.
Do you start on the same side of each row, or do you turn at the end of the rows?
From what I can make out in the photo, it looks like you start on the same side of each row, creating a Front & Back of the blanket.
I really love the colors that you choose for your projects & wish I was closer than Seattle to visit your Shop!!!!

ReplyDeleteI do love the effectiveness of a single row of colour amidst wider stripes of grey in your neon stripe blankets. Are they picots on your blue edges?
The sunburst blanket is a fabulous idea to display all of your colour range, add atmosphere to your studio space and inspire visitors with yet another motif or idea for using all those colours! As a customer, I could go up to your blanket on display and be able to point out "That's the colour I want!" :-) I am imagining the finished blanket on your wall already!
It is not surprising that you haven't had as much time for blogging with the setting up of your studio, offering classes and busily making blankets! Don't worry about it. "Quality over Quantity" I say and I love the quality of your projects and photos and colours in this post. Have fun. :-)
