Hello everyone, I hope you had a great weekend!
We had a good one here, nothing spectacular, but I did get all the grass mowed, had a lovely bike ride and found lots of time for some crochet love!!
Want to see what I have been making lately?
I have been playing around with a little idea that has turned into a sweet hexie motif I am calling the 'Puffy Petal Hexie' . I wanted to make a flower that looked solid, really stood out and up from it's background, and with the petals clearly defined. I think this is doing all those things plus it looks very cute! ( in my opinion anyway!:) )
I decided to make a few in my Heirloom cotton, and I am actually loving the slightly vintage vibe these colours are giving this motif. I think I will keep making them and turn it into a blanket.
What do you think of the white edging? I was trying for a unifying colour that will be nice and neat looking when I sew them all together....... I think it helps the colours to stand out a bit more too....
I have a few little tweaks to make to the pattern, (plus about 100 more hexies for the blanket!!) and then I think it will just about be finished.
It is such a good feeling when an idea works out into something similar to what you had in your head, it is very satisfying creatively speaking.
I have another project on the go at the moment too, an order for a neon stripy blanket from a lovely customer in the US, I will show you how that is coming along tomorrow, I think it looks really bright and modern, I will be interested to see what you all think!
Have a lovely crafty day wherever you are!

Those hexies are a real delight, looking forward to seeing the finished blanket in time.
ReplyDeleteI love the flowers, they look great! I'm curious how the neon blanket looks.
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely, the white edging works really well! Can't wait to see the finished blanket! : )
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! And the white really makes it pop. I look forward to seeing it's progression. I've had hexie ideas floating around in my head for awhile too,and one has finally made it's way out and onto the hook. After a couple of tries I've finally worked out the "bugs" or I might say "bees" since it's a yarny version of honeycomb, (since I'm a beekeeper as well) I'm thinking maybe a pillow but not sure yet, I let it tell me what it will become.lol Honeycomb has so many different shades of yellow, gold even oranges. Autumn weather is finally here, so it's more outside work for me at the moment (we manage to cut the grass as well over the weekend). Have a hooky day!
ReplyDeleteYour puffy petal hexi is very pretty - and the white border is perfect to makes those colors pop out. Have a great week. :)

Not only are they gorgeous but those booties in the background are adorable! I got a little mowing done as well, sun was amazing and we all went to the local park for a while.
ReplyDeleteThe extra texture and dimension provided by the puff stitches make your hexagons unique. I admire anyone who has the patience to work in modular crochet - so many shapes to stitch together! All I can say is "outstanding"! ;-)
ReplyDeleteLove them, will look great on a bed, chair etc... The white is great
ReplyDeleteThey look great!! And also the white edging works very well!
ReplyDeleteXO E,
They are going to be FAB-U-LOUS. Jo xx
ReplyDeleteTruly gorgeous Jules - another triumph. I completely agree with you on the white edging, it makes everything stand out and unifies at the same time. Really lovely, and can't wait to see the finished blanket,
