Crafty heart(s)

Hello!  I'd like to thank you all for the lovely comments on  my last post with the blue/green harlequin blanket, it really is so nice being part of this bloggy world, even if Facebook and Twitter and Instagram have moved in and changed things up a bit, blogging is still the way I like to communicate best and is still my first love!  I fear my stint at responding to each comment on my blog didn't last long, sorry about that,  I will keep trying to improve on this side of things, and to comment more on all your lovely blogs too, I am trying to fight my reclusive tendencies and get interacting!

I thought these little knitted hearts were kind of appropriate for sharing the love back to everyone who reads this blog, aren't they kind of cute?

When we were in the city last weekend I visited one of my favourite book shops and bought a couple of new crafty books, one of them was 'The Ultimate Book Of Baby Knits" by Debbie Bliss, and these little hearts were one of the patterns in it.  ( lots of lovely patterns in this book!)
They are supposed to become parts of a mobile, but I am planning to make quite a few of them and make a dangly heart garland thingy for my bedroom wall.
I have a picture in my head, so we will see if it turns out how I imagine.

I love how I can practice my very basic fairisle skills on these little hearts.  There is also a pattern for some gorgeous fairisle hangers that I am working up to having a go at.  They are really pretty!
It was nice to pick up the knitting needles for a change, I am quite inspired to knit at the moment, it is really cold here and the fire is going, and knitting just finishes off the picture of cosiness.

I think a tiny knitted heart with little spots of colour would be pretty cute
for a homespun brooch, don't you?  Just have to find my tiny knitting needles....maybe 2mm?

Anyway, I'd better go and help with the dishes, talk soon!

  5. That is the picture of coziness! It's summer here so it will be quite awhile until we have a fire going in the hearth! LOL! I'm getting ready to go out and mow the yard this morning before it gets too warm.
I love your hearts and I love Debbie Bliss yarns and thank you for the book title....I 'm sure her books are wonderful too. I want to try color work and fair isle this year and you're right...those patterns sound like nice projects to try them with. Yes, we all have dishes to do at some point...dang it! LOL! Have a great day.

  9. A single one would make a lovely brooch, and a string of them would make a great garland for a bedroom!! Happy knitting! xx

  10. I'm not on FB, but I love finding new to me craft bloggers. I find it is easier to try new stitches/styles out on small projects. For me it's usually a dishcloth because no matter how it looks, I know I'll use it. :)

  11. Those little knitted hearts will look lovely as garland. Heart are a fave of mine so I have them all about the house, crochet, wooden, even fabric ones, but none knitted. I'm not as good with the needles as I am with the hooks.lol I always have plans to do more of it but the 'to do' list for crochet seems to always be too long.lol In fact I'm finally working some potholders up in your harlequin pattern. Thanks. :) Since it's summer here the small projects are better to work on for now.

  13. Lovely, just my thing! I tried knitting hearts last weekend while on a boring train journey, but I used garter stitch so they wouldn't curl up. I didn't use a pattern, just tried to figure it out. Didn't look as nice as yours. Can't wait to see the finished garland. x
