Hello!
How has your week been? Have you got something interesting planned for the weekend?
It has been a bit of a woolly week here with me getting everything organised for my little shop.
I have finally got my shop open, I guess this is a grand opening post!
I have had lots of fun playing around with colour schemes and photographing all the yarn.
Do you want to see all the lovely colour? Well, here is a bit of a sneak peek....
These colours are the ones I am using for my star stitch blanket at the moment, it is the second one I have done in this colour scheme, I think they look lovely all together. I am planning to offer these colours as a pack, but am waiting for an order of the light lime as it was out of stock for my first delivery, and the other problem is that the nice minty green is a discontinued colour and I only have a limited supply of it :( So when it is gone, it's gone and I will have a hunt and see if I can find a good substitute for you all.
I am opening my shop on Storenvy, I hope it all runs smoothly, there are bound to be teething problems but I hope I can sort out anything that comes up quickly.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Anyhoo, to mark this occasion I thought it would be good to have a Yarny Giveaway. Yay!!
All you lovely readers who pop in here and take the time to be so encouraging and generous in your comments are really appreciated, and I thought it was time for a thank you !
So here is what I am giving away:

These are really lovely yarns and I hope you will like them and make something fab with them!

ReplyDeleteyeh when i'm finished with my daughters blanket I will be definately stopping by to pick up some of magic colours. Congratulations on the shop opening and thanks for the giveaway (second pack please)
ReplyDeleteHI, Jules!
ReplyDeleteI'm really very happy you are realizing your dream! You sound very inspired! I checked out your shop, it looks so cute and in all your favorite colors :)
I'd love to enter your giveaway :)Let's see if I can be lucky. I like red, blue, yellow, green colors :)
All the best with your shop, I'm sure it'll be successful.
Anna
Congratulations on your momentous occasion! I use all colors I can get my hands on but if its anything for me I love neutral colors.
ReplyDeleteLove what you are doing, very bold. I have recently revitalized my relationship with a crochet hook and am going like lightning to create all the projects I have had on hold for 20 years!!! My daughter recently announced she is expecting in June so I'm really fired up. Both batches of colors would really send me. I love them all. Good luck in your venture and I will surely be back.
ReplyDeleteI am really excited for you and think that having my very own yarn store would be such a lovely thing! I would love to enter your giveaway, I think I prefer the bottom colours although I have always admired your colour schemes because they are a bit different to what everone else is using so I like the top ones too.
ReplyDeleteI can't decide, I would feel blessed to win either :O)
wishing you much luck with your shop

ReplyDeleteThe new shops looks lovely, good luck with it! As for the giveaway, I just love the second lot, it would be perfect for my future niece/nephew. (Kati from Hungary)
ReplyDeleteThe colors that most appeal to me are pale pink, flamingo, ladybird, pale blue, light aqua, denim and cream. I love all colors and the brighter more colorful the colors the better I like them. I use a variety of colors in many of my crochet projects. The more color the merrier. Thanks for the give away. I am not lucky when it comes to give aways but maybe I will be blessed in this one. Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteWow they are both so beautiful, but the first one (with the pinks) is more me. Good luck with your shop!
ReplyDeleteEm xx
Jules your shop looks GREAT! How exciting! It looks like you've gotten in a great colour range :-)
ReplyDeleteYour giveaway is super generous - I love both colour packs, so I guess if I was lucky enough to win, I wouldn't mind which once I received!

ReplyDeleteCongrats on your store! I'm loving the colours in the first pack.. especially Flamingo!
ReplyDeleteAll the colors are just beautiful. I dont think you could go wrong with either set. :) im drawn to the one with flamingo in it.
ReplyDeleteLove them all
So excited for you
Amber
Congratulations on opening your shop! How exciting! I've admired your color sense on your blog for ages, so I expect you'll do well. I lean towards the second set of colors, being more of a green than a red type person, although both sets are lovely.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the colours in the first pack..
ReplyDelete*1 pack of 7 balls of wool in the colours: pale pink, flamingo, ladybird, pale blue, light aqua, denim and cream.
Good luck with your shop!
Yum yum yum,Jules I am so jealous. Congratulations and I am sure you will be successful in your wooly endeavour. I just love the combination of mustard, peacock blue, sea green, sea blue, grass, and dark grey.Good luck and best wishes

ReplyDeleteWhat lovely colors and so very sweet of you o consider us readers for such a fabulous give away. All my wishes with you in your new adventure. I love both the packs but the last one is more eye catching for me. :)
ReplyDeleteGreetings from South Africa!
ReplyDeleteI've been dying to open a yarn shop of my own but have been held back in doing so due to the high costs involved in running actual physical premises. I love experimenting with different yarns from around the world and so am thrilled with what you're doing in starting up a virtual shop. You can be sure I'll be sharing your link with all my yarny friends on my Facebook.
Of course, I'm thrilled to enter your giveaway for a chance to win some gorgeous Aussie yarns. The pack that most appeals to me is the one containing the pale pink, flamingo, ladybird, pale blue, light aqua, denim and cream. What a lovely cheerfully cosy lap blanket those would make!
thank you so much for the chance to win. While both packs are gorgeous, I love the colours in pack 1 a little more.
ReplyDeletelovely! loving the pinks and blues :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new venture, hope it all goes well. The yarn looks lovely. Don't they have great names. I love both the flamingo and the peacock, but I think my preference goes for the pack containing the flamingo.
ReplyDeletexXx Helen
Good luck with the yarn store. I was having a rant about my LYS the other day over at my blog and how it is a total mess and does nothing to encourage people to take up crocheting or knitting. Anyhow your colour packs and yarns are 100% improvement on what I can see locally:) I love pack 2 - gorgeous colours. Daffy x
ReplyDeleteShop looks fab!
ReplyDeleteI like the look of both colour packs but would love the first pack. Rather Cath Kidson which is right up my alley.
Goodluck with the shop!

Alexa

ReplyDeletehave a nice weekend
Chris
Oh lovely - and any congratulations on having a dream and actually doing something about it! (I don't comment very often but follow your blog along in my google reader and enjoy it!)
ReplyDeleteI love both of these colour combinations, but I think the first one with the pale pink is more up my alley. Funny, but they say the colours we are drawn to are more likely to be those that actually suit us to wear, and I am a 'cool summer' in all that colour season stuff, and the paler, muted colours are my thing.
Thanks for the chance!
Awesome can not wait to get my hands on your wool! I love purple, i love it so much! Your peacock range is stunning, you are amazing in your selections, they work so well. Finally a shop we need is here, with a blog to keep us inspired. Forever happy, thanks to wool, and creative people like you!!
ReplyDeleteLoving the last picture of colors. Your crochet along blog is inspiring.

ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, I haven't put the sets together in my shop yet, just waiting on a couple of colours to come in and then they will be up there quick smart! ( Although you can pick out the individual colours if you'd like at the moment, and just leave out the ones that are missing)

ReplyDeletexx

ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteI'm the type that likes the second package more.
I have a suggestion for your shop: Why don't you make owl kits with the pattern for your wonderful owls (or needle cushions or whatever) and sell it together with the matching wool? I think this could be great fun.
Anyway: Congratulations on your shop opening!
xxx Natalie

Brother and his wife have a new baby on the way and your star blanket has inspired me to make one for the newbie. The yarn would be lovely. ReplyDeleteCongratulations! The colours in the pack of 7 would work well in my hexagon blanket - it needs a kick along! Good luck with the shop.
ReplyDeleteHello Jules,
ReplyDeleteWow there are lots of lovely ladies all vying for these beautiful wools. So hard to choose which would be my favourite but as I'm partial to pink I think I would go for that colourway although the other is lovely as well. I do hope your new venture goes well and I will certainly be checking your little shop out.
Blessings Gail
Congratulations! Your store really impressive...love the shop header:)
ReplyDeleteHow awesome, I'm new to crocheting but it's growing fastly into me, I would love to win the pack with the pinks being a mother of two girls, and because I love how all of them look together, Love you shop!

Greetings from Brazil!
Hi Jules, your shop looks fantastic and the colours are so beautiful. Its so great to see someone else in Australia supplying high quailty yarn to all wool/yarnaholics LOL. I love your blog and all your crochet goodies. Either colour pack would be fantastic. I can feel my inspiration blooming with great ideas.

The skeins are so very lovely! I've always liked cool colors more than anything. The second pack would be wonderful to create with, though I'm sure they're all a joy to work with.
ReplyDeleteHi Jules, Congratulations on taking the big step and following your dream. I wish you every success. I checked out your store and I think it looks great but I'd love to see the metreage of the Colour Works yarn so I know how many balls I'd need for a project. By the way, I love the second bundle of yarn, the colours remind me of the West Aussie coastal waters! AuntySally :)
ReplyDeleteYay!!! Julie congrats on getting your store up and running (I'm about to pop in and have a look around). Thanks heaps for offering such a lovely woollie giveaway. The colours that are most up my alley are mustard, peacock blue, sea green, sea blue, grass, and dark grey. Gorgeous, gorgeous!!

Even if I don't win, I will keep an eye out because I want to order some lovely yarn from the U.K. A new swap friend recently sent me some Stylecraft. What wonderful colors! There's so much I see that I just want to grab right away. Have a wonderful weekend :)

ReplyDeleteOh yay! Congratulations on the new yarn shop. I wish you the very best and I look forward to checking it out :) After reading your first post of wanting to open a store, you got me wanting to open a yarn store in my town. Ours closed a few years ago.

ReplyDeleteYou have a fantastic sense of colour and the rugs and toys are a real inspiration! I really like the brights of the first selection so that would be my choice, but all wool is welcome in my home. Have joined your site to check out the great ideas. I wish you lots of success with your shop!
ReplyDeleteThe yarn is awesome. I've never worked with yarn like that!
I love the colours of the pack of 6.
Congrats on your store!! Your yarn looks very soft and nice to work with!! You have made two beautiful colour combinations! I like the packaging with the minty and yellow in it most.
ReplyDeleteWell done for going ahead with this venture - you are very brave [especially in current "climate"]. Your work is always so beautifully put together with colours so it's nice that you've put together some for this giveaway. I much prefer the group of six yarns together as they're slightly muted - which is more "my style".
ReplyDeleteLove the look of your store, the yarn is lovely. I prefer the second lot of colours myself. Very envious of your sunshine - it's cold in my part of the UK!
ReplyDeletecongratulations on your shop launch, I hope it all goes really well for you. I love the colours in the first group.
ReplyDeleteI love your blankets. So different from others I've seen.
ReplyDeleteI like both colourways. Best of luck with the shop.
Beautiful yarn in gorgeous colours! To win either would be lovely, but the second set is the one I prefer! Good luck with the yarn store xx
ReplyDeleteI love the set with all the apricotty / minty / limey colours, that you used for your star stitch blanket and the sampler blanket. It's out of my normal colour range, but they just work so well together.
ReplyDeleteVery best of luck for your shop!
Gail
Congratulations on your new adventure, I wish you every success. I love reading your blog and living in England I am always surprised by the difference in the seasons (I know it's obvious but there you go!) I also love reading your slow living posts, wishing I had time to live like that. If I were to be lucky enough to receive one of your packs I think I would prefer the second one, but both are lovely.
ReplyDeleteHelen
Hi Jules,
ReplyDeleteIt's all going ahead brilliantly!
I'd love to win either pack. :-) x
Just discovered your blog! Might I say I love your table. It brings back fond memories of sitting around on Sundays at my grandma's house!
ReplyDeleteExciting! I love the colours that you use but can never find anything remotely similar... just love the pack with the mustard in it :)
ReplyDeleteAmy
Well done on getting this venture off the ground. The sales website looks good. So often we think of doing things and never do them...you are an inspiration. I'd certainly be able to put some yarn to good use and I love the 'mustard, peacock blue, sea green, sea blue, grass, and dark grey'.
ReplyDeleteBest Wishes from Avril Simpson

Great news on your shop. Congrats, Jules. I'm so happy/Feliz for you. I love all kind of yarns and I'd love to get them in all those different colours you have available. Any set will be perfect to have. Please choose me! I've been following your since 2010 after you learnt how to crochet. Are you going to ship to Vancouver,Canada? Gloria x
ReplyDeletecongrats on your shop, wish I had one haha and was wondering where you live that now is your growing season? Looking at your previous posts, food growing in February not happening in US- even in so cal. All your yarn colors are very nice- good luck
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your shop I will be bookmarking it for further use and I love the bright colour package :)
ReplyDeleteHi Julie, A very big congratulations on your blog. I've been following you ever since my sister told me about it. I'm a keen crafty person too (knitting mainly, but can crochet granny squares, and am keen to do more) - I even bought the book on 250 crochet stitches from your recommendation on your blog. I have yet to try them out, but am keen to start. I'd also like to make a crocheted stripey blanket for my bed, similar to yours; it's just trying to find the time that's the battle! I also like the mustardy wool pack that you're giving away too, being an earthy girl that I am. I love your chickens too! I wish you loads and loads of luck in your retail venture and I hope it is successful for you. Best wishes, Rosie D
ReplyDeleteCongratulations of opening your shop. I like the first wool pack you have put together that includes flamingo and ladybird - what awesome colour names!
ReplyDeleteJust visted your shop and it looks great. Congratulatons!!! It will be bookmarked so I can go back again and again. I also want to say that I really appreciate your book recommendations. I've put the last 2 in my wish list on Amazon. I love reading almost as much as I love crafty stuff. :) I would love to be entered in your giveaway. I really like the 2nd pack. Those colors just speak to me. Good luck with your shop. I hope it goes as well as your blog.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sharon
