Hello!
I am taking a little break from the softie crochet and have been making these little daisy type flowers. I have big dangley plans for these little things!
Ever since I was little, I have loved things that hang and float and waft around in the air. I had a lovely mobile collection when I was a child, and I always wanted to live in a jungle with all those beautiful vines draped everywhere; I tried to make my bedroom into a viney paradise with lots of fabric leafy hanging things from my ceiling, but I could not get that thick abundant feel. I could never get lost in my room!
I think this is why I still have a fascination for all things hanging, and why I love making useless little garlandy bits of string to hang around our house, and really can't get enough of the whole bunting thing! (I really like the gypsy/ carnival style of colourful decoration)
So stay tuned for some floaty, flowery, whimsy fluff, just because! ( I always feel I need a good reason to justify why I choose to make certain things, because lets face it, most of my stuff is totally useless and impractical and just meant to be 'pretty', I don't know if this is a good enough reason to do something or not, I hope it is!)
I hope you all have a lovely day and good things happen for you!
I'd also like to thank all of you who have taken the time recently to comment on my softies, thank you all for the lovely feedback and encouragement, I love reading your messages and you are all so generous with your thoughts, I appreciate it so much, it is easy to doubt the worth of your own crafty activities, so support from the amazing bloggy community is wonderful! You are all fantastic!

Hey Jules, are there other reasons for making things, other than the fact that they are pretty and make you happy?
ReplyDeleteLove your flowers, nice colour combos, can't wait to see what you do with them. My mind is running wild with ideas..........
'Garlandy bits of string' and 'bunting' should never be put in the same sentence with 'useless', it's bad grammar........
Hope you are having a good week.

I'm with Claire - a hundred ideas on where to use these is now trying to jostle the need to finish something first. They are jsurt so pretty and such a different shape.
ReplyDeleteLoveley colours btw !
Hi Jules , love your flowers. The colours and shape are so pretty. Can't wait to see what they turn into. Being creative is so theraputic it's not waste of time .

Yes, they are lovely, and very fresh and breezy looking.
ReplyDeleteThey would look great as a mobile, or covering a lampshade, or wrapped around your neck, or, anything really!
Cheers

My daughter now insists I make her something similiar only in purple, hot pink, lime green, and teal. I hope I can find the time! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeletePretty is a perfect reason to make something, even lots of somethings. I love your idea of hanging great lovely garlands of yarn flowers all around. It'll be a gorgeous yarn jungle. Beautiful! I can't wait to see it.
ReplyDeleteSo, so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love that you have made something so pretty. That is one reason I love crochet so much - it seems to allow for being artistic in a way that people aren't with knitting. I do both but knitting tends to lean towards the practical and crochet towards the happy ornamental. I just love your flowers - the shape and colours are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAny chance of getting the pattern for these lovelies?
ReplyDeletePeace & Luv,
Jeannie
