Hello there! How has your week been going? Good I hope!
Have you been making anything fun?
I have been busy making granny squares in lots of gorgeous colour combinations to make some granny buntings, well, my version of granny square bunting anyway. I have been quite productive and speedy for me, I usually seem to take a long time to amass a nice pile of squares, but this week they have grown pretty fast!
I stacked them all together and then spent quite a lot of time admiring the way all the colours worked together in little slices and glimpses, something about this really pleased me and made me very happy! So of course I had to take a heap of photos so I could remember it and look at it later whenever I need a little colour fix. So that is why you are seeing all these pictures of stacked squares, it is all quite self indulgent really!
I think they look a bit like a fat colourful caterpillar. I am thinking there are a few colour combos here that would look great as a skinny stripe blanket too!
Anyway, I am in a bit of a tizz getting things made for an exciting market that I am having a stall at on Saturday 18th October. It is the first one for the season at Emu Plains Market, held about 5 minutes from here at the Balnarring Racecourse. I love this market, it is set under the gum trees and has lots of stalls, I have been as a shopper last season, but this is my first market stall there with my Little Woollie Makes things! Eek! I hope it goes ok!
I am taking along a bit of a mini yarn stall too, just in case my stall looks empty with too few crochet makes, I will have yarn for sale as well. Come and say hello if you are down this way, I'd love to meet you! (that was the best part of the last market, meeting some readers of this blog!)
I really enjoyed doing the Nanna Cool Market in Chelsea last month, the feedback was so encouraging and everybody was so nice, this one is much bigger so I hope I don't get too lost in the crowd!
Now I have to crochet all these squares into lines of bunting, I thought it would be a quick job, but I did one piece this afternoon (16 squares), and it took about 10 times longer than I had anticipated!
So that is how I will be spending tomorrow I think, and hopefully I will have more pretty pictures of some finished bunting. I know it's been around for a while, and probably done to death, but I still love a bit of bunting fluttering on a Spring day!
Okay, I had better go and get started on those buntings, I might be able to cross a couple off my to do list tonight if I am good!
See you later!

Very colorful! I can't wait to see one made up.
ReplyDeleteLove the colors!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely site to see this morning, it does look like a crochet caterpillar! : ) Can never get enough of bunting, it's such a cheery site. In fact I have mini bunting (inch triangles) strung on a shelf in my kitchen, and inspired from your spotty tapestry I have some spotty triangle bunting on my porch swing now. Best of luck with the market! (Wish I could attend.)
ReplyDeleteHi Julie, your bunting squares are a colourful joy, they will be very well received at your stall I am sure, looking forward to the pictures of them together.

ReplyDeleteJulie, I'm showing my age..I thought you meant baby buntings! I was getting excited to see one. After reading the posts, I realized you meant buntings as in garlands. Your stall should be delightful! Good luck at the Market.
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty eye candy here!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love your fat, colourful caterpillar-like crochet bunting. Just gorgeous! I can see in my mind's eye your lovely and colourful stall being swarmed by the madding crowd! Good luck with the market.....you will be probably sold out within the first hour!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful blog is that! I'm looking for crochet blogs and I found you through "Home is where the datchshund is".
ReplyDeleteA lot of things to be inspired!

What beautiful, bright, happy colours, when the bunting glee has had its day the squares can be reused to make a doll or baby capsule blanket.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful day at the market. You could make a scarecrow type skeleton out of 3 old wire coathangers, one for the head (straighten the hook and leave a tiny loop to hang it by) and arms, one for the body (reshape hook and attach to neck) and one bent for the legs, to display your wonderful yarn,( threaded on,) bend and cut to suit with pliers and hang it to move in the breeze . I am sure one of your clever boys could make it for you....have fun
All of your squares look so cute lined up, as you say, like a big caterpillar, earlier this year I had over 200 squares all strung together into what I called a square snake, so I know why you are enjoying your caterpillar! xx
ReplyDeleteYour rainbow caterpillar reminds me of the hungry little caterpillar book (which is a good thing - I like the book!). :)
ReplyDeleteNew to your blog, and this may be a silly question, but what is a bunting? Same as a blanket? I am thoroughly entranced with your color combinations, so very pretty! Cathy
ReplyDeleteLove all your Granny squares for the bunting. I've bought the yarn to make some autumn bunting (it's autumn in my part of the world). Have fun with all your joining.
