Another good read and a Stanley winner!

Hello! How is your week going so far? It is a normal old week around here, and as the weather has turned nasty again, I think I might actually get a fair bit of creative time over the next few days. Yay!

So, I thought I'd show you a good read.  I was in the city last week and bought a copy of Alphabet.  I had seen this on a few other blogs and it looked very interesting! Alplabet is a new journal ( it is kind of too nice to just call it a magazine!) and is full of interesting people and reads revolving around the theme of family.  Really lovely photos, and lots of great stories.  I think I will keep an eye out for the next issue!  :)

Also, it is time to pick a winner of my 'Stanley and the Hot Air Balloon' giveaway!  Thank you to everyone who entered and shared some of their favourite reads, a lot of titles I recognised from my own childhood and there were also some new ones to me to check out.  It was actually really nice to reflect back on my childhood favs, I think I might have to put together a little list and share it over here one day.
So anyway, with at great amount of fan fare, the winner is Jodiebodie!  Congratulations!
If you see this, could you email me your postal address and I'll get it sent to you ASAP.

That's about it for today, what have you got planned for the rest of the week?

  1. Congrats to the winner!
I'm having company this week..my daughter and the 2 grandboys (7 and 3 just this month) so I probably won't get lots of handwork done but I have been finishing up a few WIPs and a big yarn order is on it's way so I am all set for the following years projects. I have to plan ahead as I make all my gifts. I also belong to Come Blog Along group on Ravelry and the year starts in July.
This is our summer right now and it is gorgeous out but it also means double duty with outside and inside work. Lucky you to have a nasty day out so you can cuddle up with a hook and some yarn! I love the cooler weather.

  2. Congrats to the winner! I like normal weeks, it's comforting, familiar. Mostly a bit of the same ole things happening here as well, a bit of gardening, trying to keep cool in the summer heat, and of course working in some fun times and hooky projects when I can. Have a great creative time, and I look forward to 'hearing' all about it. :)

  3. It has been a thunderous, wet week. Thankfully we weren't in the tornado part of the state this week. That was a blessing. Been working on a rather strange kit of donated yarn from the Church's Prayer Shawl ministry. I can say it will have an interesting color format when finished.

  7. Yay, congratulations Jodiebodie and a huge big thank you to you Julie for hosting the giveaway. I so enjoyed reading about every body's fave childhood reads. So lovely to see that somebody included Ramona Quimby. My favourite picture book was 'Miss Twiggley's Tree". Love Kate xxooxx.

  11. Thank you very much Julie for the opportunity to win a copy of "Stanley & The Hot Air Balloon" and thank you for pulling my name out of your hat (or crochet bag as the case may be!). My family and I feel very lucky and I have a very excited little girl who knows that one is never too old to enjoy a good storybook. I have been following the development of "Stanley" on the blogosphere and feel so much awe and admiration at the achievement. "Stanley" will hold a precious place in our bookcase. Thank you so much! An email with details will be on its way soon.

Thanks also to everyone who sent congratulations - that's one of the things I love about this blog Little Woollie: everyone is so friendly - like-minded lovers of colour and craft. Wishing everyone the best of luck. I agree that there were some great reads in the list and some books that I had never heard of before so I do look forward to Julie's idea of publishing the list here.

My week has been a week of catching up on things. Mending children's clothing, working on a crocheted cardigan and also some baby items, juicing a load of home grown lemons (for the freezer/cooking and lemonade), and gardening is mainly weeding in between winter showers while the earth is soft, and the most amazing feat is that I can see my desk again after finally getting to the bottom of the paperwork pile! This has all been possible because of a 'quiet' week which has also given me time to read through all the blogs on my list, especially this one! :-) Cheers everyone, and thanks again for your generosity, Julie :-)
