hooky news!

Hello.
So how is your week going so far?  Things are good around here, quite a lot of exciting things bubbling along, lots of crochet goodness, so I am a happy girl!

A while ago I showed you a bit of sneaky crochet I was making, well, I think I can show you what I was up to now.  I was making this crocheted bag, for a special blogger supplement in the magazine
Simply Crochet.  You can find the pattern in the current issue, along with some other lovely crochet  bloggers, so I think I am safe chatting about it.  I haven't seen it in the flesh yet as we get this mag about 6 weeks later here.  Quite exciting for me, I can tell you!  I've never been asked to do anything for a mag before, I am actually pretty chuffed to even make their crochet radar!

So anyway, that was a pretty fun little hooky interlude for me, I think I might hook up a few different shopping bags, there are lots of other stitch patterns that would look good as a bag, and this cotton was great to use.  Might be nice to have a few up my sleeve for Christmas pressies......

( I used the Heirloom Organic Cotton 8ply in the pale lilac and pale lime for this one, but they would be  nice in any combination of this lovely soft cotton.  It is available in my shop too!)

At the moment I have so many projects on the go, I really need to get cracking finishing off some of them!!   I sound like a broken record I know, but the Autumn Harlequin is so close to finished, I can't wait!

I hope you have lots of great things happening in your life at the moment, and lots of fun hooky time scheduled too! :)
Do you read crochet magazines, seen any good patterns lately?

Have a lovely day!
Bye.

  2. How wonderful, congrats!!! It's a lovely bag, for market or the beach, even for WIP's. I receive one crochet magazine, sadly it's not Simply crochet. I find more inspiration on line now than in the magazines. Happy hooking!

  3. Yay congrats, this is a beauty and you must be chuffed to bits. I suspect we might see a few more of these emerging around blogland as summer approaches for some of us around the world. xoxo

  6. I hope the bloggers got paid for their work. Magazines can be very exploitative. It may be flattering to be published but that is no reason not to pay for patterns and other information they regularly use from bloggers. They depend on you, not the other way round.

  8. Saw this in Simply crochet too. Nearly started making it and then realised I was fresh out of cotton. I only have acrylic at the moment which i think would be too stretchy. But it is on my list of projects to do - an ever growing list...

  9. I am crocheting but it's not "fun" crochet...it's an old WIP in a terribly troubling yarn (Lion Brand Homespun) that catches on every stitch practically. I want to do something fun and beautiful but the old WIP's are good for my budget right now. Meanwhile, I live vicariously through all the beautiful items and projects you work on.....it's the only thing that keeps me sane! LOL!
I love the bag but unfortunately I can't afford that magazine either although I have 1 issue and love it! Congratulations! You should be in there....you're so talented! Why do I have to love all things across the pond? I love your style, colors. designs and yarn and if I didn't have family here I'd come over there and live! LOL! Keep up the great work...you are so inspiring to me and many, many others I'm sure!

  18. That is so awesome that your pattern is in a magazine! I personally love Inside Crochet, even though I'm in the States and that makes it so much more expensive :( They really have some great patterns and articles though, so it's totally worth it!
