On getting stuff done.......

my front garden is in need of some serious attention!

Hello.

Well, it is nearly the end of October and Blogtoberfest, and I have to say I did not do very well at the 'post every day' bit.  Pretty damn poorly really!   I should know better that to commit to these things, but I like to be involved, even if it ends up in a half-arsed way.
So hope I make the last post tomorrow, it would be nice to go out on a high note.

I have noticed a few other interesting bloggy type things going on, and am tempted to join in those as well.  I might do a better job of keeping up this time! (but no promises!)

There is the Month of My Creative Spaces in November that might be just what my lack lustre creative mojo needs to get reignited.  I have not been feeling like making things recently, very unlike me, I have to say.  There has been a lot of things happening in real life that have left me feeling restless, unsettled and a tad anxious.  Life has also become super busy, with a heap of helping commitment for the school taking up a lot of time and mental energy.
Not really conducive to quality creative output, and I feel like my crochet along has stalled due to lack of time for calm crocheting.  I really want to change that soon, I feel I am letting my little band of crochet-alongers down with such sparse posting, and am so sorry for that, I am going to try and settle tomorrow for some guilt free creative time and hook a few rows just for me.
(and then post them for you!)

I also like to make a softie at  this time of year for the Softies for Mirabel charity here in Melbourne, I think it is a nice way to share a bit of creative love with kids who might not have much to smile about.

And I have joined the Christmas decoration swap over at Christina Lowry's lovely blog.  I have actually had an idea for this, so am trying to work up a prototype to see if it looks like I imagine in my head.

So there is plenty to keep me busy at the moment, and I am sure I will bite off more than I can chew, but you know what they say, busy people get stuff done and something great might come out of it too!

Do you over commit to things?
Or do you know your limits?
Are you joining in the Month of Creative Spaces?

  1. I ALWAYS over commit myself, and nearly always regret it. And nearly always swear that I will never again make the same mistake. And ALWAYS do! ;)

  3. Hi - I always over commit and then either beat myself up for not achieving what I set out to do or otherwise (and more usually) I completely burn myself out. I am not good at pacing myself at all. Actually I am bang in the middle of over doing it right now with a ridiculous to-do list. Think of this: at least I will be able to catch up with your blanket if you don't go too fast. Lily. xxx

  4. Julie, Julie, Julie you're over committing again aren't you?!!! I hovered my hand over the "yes, I'll join in" button to join the Christmas Swap and the Month of Creative Spaces, but I just couldn't do it so soon after Blogtober!! 'Spose it's all about having fun and not worrying about meeting the challenges 100% ... I need to get into that head space!!! Have fun. Will enjoy watching your Creative Space : -)

    1. I think you are spot on Trudy, I don't think I am going to be able to join in with the whole month of creative spaces, I might just pop in every now and again, I don't want posting to become a huge chore, I do this for fun so when it stops being fun I know something is going wrong! :)J

  5. I made my ornaments yesterday. I figured that as swap host I shouldn't leave it to the last minute! Will be posting a tutorial to the blog tomorrow.

I agree, sometimes you have to schedule a bit of creative time, or else everything else takes over. It helps you re-energise to do everything else as well! :)

    1. Very organised Christina to get your ornaments done already, well done, I am hoping to get some time this weekend to do a bit more on mine, I think the scheduling idea is a good one, might have to try it out here. :) J

  6. Haha... I have been getting a lot better about not committing to things I don't want to do. For me I think the turning point was figuring out exactly what our big goals and priorities were. That really helped me not commit to things that were related to my interest but not really in support of what we want to do. Although I do sometimes still find myself committing to things I shouldn't.

    1. Yeah, I'm trying to do that at the moment Kathryn too, got to keep my eye on the big picture a bit more and sort out what I really want to do.
