Christmas 2012

Wishing you all a very festive Christmas season, much happiness and good health from my family to yours.

It is an early start here, so time for a quick Merry Christmas before we head of for a day of good food, great company and unwinding after the hectic last few weeks.....I hope you all enjoy your day too!

I think I might have a little bloggy holiday till the new year, so see you all again in a week, with lots of plans and new years resolutions that I will probably not keep!

This was the scene at our place about 20 minutes ago, a lot of present opening and wrapping paper!  Nothing like an action shot of Christmas morning!  Pjs and presents!

Happy Holidays everyone, thanks for all your lovely support over the year and thanks for popping by here to see what's been happening around my little patch.....I really appreciate it!

Crochet 2012 in pictures..(and a few words)

 Hello.
How are you all going?

My boys are all officially on holidays this afternoon with the school year ending today.  It feels good.
It was our last year at the primary school, Max starts high school in 2013 so I will have all 3 boys at one school again.  It is making me feel a bit old with my baby going to high school, but I guess that is just time marching on. I want to try and get my time back in control, instead of feeling like it is whizzing by and I am wasting so much of it!
I have changed a few commitments  for next year so hopefully I will have a bit more time to be creative and get a bit more stuff actually finished!

In the meantime, Christmas is looming and it is getting exciting and festive!  I think I am organised, but there is usually something that I have forgotten.  Oh well, we will still have a good day!

That's probably enough waffle from me.
Do you like my collages? I had a bit of a play on picmonkey and made a bit of a 2012 review of my crochet exploits. Nice and cheery, right?  Not that many totally finished projects, but that's what 2013 will be about!

Oh, and one other thing - I have a Facebook page for Little Woollie! Yay!
Andre helped me make one a couple of weeks ago, and I meant to mention it in the last few posts, but kept forgetting.  I have no idea what I will put on it or use it for, I am not on Facebook personally so it is a bit of uncharted territory........
Any ideas what to use it for, what should I put on it?  Maybe notification when I post on here?
I'll have to see how it goes....

Have a lovely pre-Christmas weekend, I hope it's a fun one!

Crazy World.....

I woke up early this morning to a grey sky and rolling thunderstorms and rainy downpours.  I didn't need to be up for a few hours, so I thought it was a perfect time to do a bit of in bed hooky, such a luxury!
Then I put on the radio to hear what was happening out in the big wide world, and I hear of the terrible massacre of little children in America.  At a school, little children just going about their young lives, sent off in the morning as a normal everyday happening, and then a normal day turns haywire.
One can only imagine the pain and grief that the families and community are feeling at the moment, I feel so sad for them all, it is really too much to comprehend.
In this day and age of the internet and our global community, tragedies like this feel much closer to home than the geographic distance that separates us.
We are all in this life together after all.
Sending big hugs to all you lovely readers, especially in America, I think you'll all need an extra one today.

Life now.....

Hi there.
How're things going for you at the moment? Busy? Cruisey? Hot? Cold?
It is pretty crazy here at this time of year, but I think we only have 1 more end of year official thing, wish will be nice, and then there are a few fun social Christmas catchups to be had, then the Summer holidays begin! Yay!  I am really looking forward to some holiday time with nothing much planned except hanging out with the family, beaching, swimming, reading, and maybe a bit of crochet time too!

Since I missed my Slow Living report for November, here's a bit of a catch up of what's been happening around here...........

My sweet peas are just about finished after a few days of very hot, humid weather, but I took a couple of photos to remind me of their gorgeous colour.  Next year I am going to plant a series of sweet pea teepees so I can have them in real abundance.

........the roses have been good this year, I love the colour of this one......

......potatoes are going well, although I think I have killed a few plants by mulching with grass clippings that got too hot and cooked the plants, next time I will let the clippings compost separately and cool down before I use them on the garden....

....Raspberries have been enjoyed by all, I have been trying to weigh them as we harvest and I think I got to around 9 kgs, which is a pretty good harvest!  I think the boys have been eating a lot straight  from the garden too.........

.....we also harvested a patch of beetroot, which was made into a yummy beetroot salad in the school cooking class.  The zucchinis are already building up in the fridge, I am eating one a day with dinner, but there is still a big back log to get through!

I have been trying to have a bit of a tidy up and Get Organised, so I have sorted all my cookbooks into one bookshelf, instead of randomly all around the house, next thing to do is clear off my sideboard and make it look pretty again.  I don't know about you, but we seem to accumulate a massive amount of scrap paper, old bills, notices, receipts, junk mail and random notes, I think de-papering our place is also high on my to-do list.

......all nice and organised! (for now anyway)

So I am going to hit the shops next week and get stuck into the present getting, there's nothing like leaving it too the last week to make Christmas feel that little bit more crazy!!  I like it, there is such a festive feel in the air.

I hope you all have a great weekend!
What are you doing?  Partying? Relaxing? Working? A bit of everything?

December things...

Hello.
How is your week going?
We are getting a bit Christmassy here with our Christmas tree up and kind of decorated!
I think this time of year is my favourite, so much good will and fun anticipation,
(even if it is super busy with end of year things)!
Our tree this year has a bit of a 'Stray-ya' feel happening, with lots of open space
and nice airy bits,  just like our lovely country!

I do like the spindly effect and how it brushes the roof, I had to chop out the top to get it inside, so it has lost it's pointy top. I guess I have to get lots of stars for the multiple tops now!

I think our tree definitely looks like it was made for a hot summer Christmas, all it's branches are splayed out trying to keep cool!  Not everyone at our house likes this sparse look though.  Middle (Andre) is not at all impressed, and doesn't think it looks Christmassy at all.  I am going to put him in charge of decorating the rest of the house, and we can have Christmas decorating 'Andre Style'!

......lots of crochet bits and bobs.....

.....a little crochet decoration from the lovely Lucy's pattern collection.....

....and a sequin masterpiece from the Christmas of 2005 at the Bittern Kindergarten.....it is still as shiny and pretty as ever!

....and here is a new addition to our handmade decoration collection, this little beauty was sent to me by Tania from Ivy Nest blog as part of the Handmade Ornament Swap.  Isn't it just gorgeous! I just love it, the stitching is so fine and delicate, ( I wish I could embroider like that) and I am very partial to a bit of lovely bunting!  Thank you so much Tania, this little tree will be perfectly at home on our big tree with lots of lovely happy Christmases to come!
