My creative space....half way there

Hello.

I don't know where the days are going at the moment!  Every time I look up it is Thursday or Friday!
The early part of the week just seems to disappear into a big jumble of stuff that I find hard to recall,  all
my well laid plans and things I want to cross off my to-do list seem to get pushed to the back of the week and I actually have very little to show for how I spend my day.
I think I spend a lot of time day dreaming.  Imagining how things could look, or things I could make, or things I could plant, or just procrastinating.  Think I will do something about all this dreaming, not sure what though!!

Anyhoo, I have managed to finish one sock!  Half way there! Yay!  It wasn't as hard to negotiate the heel and shaping as I was anticipating, so that was a good thing.  I just followed the pattern to the letter.
I am using the sock pattern from  'The gentle art of knitting'  by Jane Brocket,  such a great book!
Must keep soldiering on to the second one and not say I am finished till I have a pair of socks.
I quite like the way the pattern has come out with this wool.  I think it is that German sock wool brand Opal, they do lovely things with self striping yarn.

..........also been making some little hats for the cooler weather, the crochet hook is so much quicker than the needles!  These are for babies and I have made them in lovely soft merino so they are nice and cosy for those cute little bald heads.  I got on a bit of a roll with these, so many lovely stripey combos to make up!  I like this classic shape too, I think it really suits simple striping.

Think these will go towards my on the never- never market stall, slowly collecting some things to sell.  Maybe some in my little shop too, I have some more combos to try out yet!!

What have you been up to lately?

See you later!

color me happy....

 Hello.
Over the weekend I spent some time in the garden and noticed that my dahlias were putting on a last late flush of flowers, so i just had to pick a bunch for inside. Thought you mighty like a look at the gorgeous colours.  They kind of made my day, so cheery and flamboyant.
Hope they brighten your day too!

Just a quick post today, I am heavily into sock knitting mode at the moment and want to finish my first one before my enthusiasm wanes!

Have a brilliant day where ever you are!

Sock begins......

Hello.
Well, my creative space today is all about my first attempt at knitting socks.
Yes, I am edging closer to the granny side with every day! hahaha.....
I am finding it slow going at the moment, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it  eventually.

Don't you love this wool! I do!

We went for a lovely drive in the country yesterday when Gary had a day off, and I went to a great yarn shop in Kyneton and I picked up these cute little knitting needles just right for socks.
I think I could get quite addicted to making socks, so many beautiful self striping yarns out there!

New book for me...

Hello.
I have seen this glimpses of this book on lots of lovely blogs recently, and it certainly caught my interest!  So when I was in our local bookshop the other day and saw it sitting on the shelf, I decided to buy it.  I am sooooo glad I did!!

.....so much gorgeous eye candy in one place, what's not to love?

....lots of inspiring homes and spaces.......

..........beautiful furniture that I want right here with me, thank you very much!

.......serious fabric stash, more drooling ......

I am definitely bringing the tablecloths outside from now on, turns ordinary to special so easily......

........I want  my bedroom to feel like this calm, cool and airy.  Think it might be time for a paint job, out with the purple and in with the cool green!
I'm off to bed to have a closer look and do a bit more dreaming!

See ya!

Weekend gardener...

Hello.
This weekend I'm hoping to spend some time out in the garden, it is looking very green, and there is lots to eat too.
I have been trying to sow or plant at least one thing a week this year and have been fairly regular with this, so the garden is looking far more organised than usual.  I'm liking it!
Summer things are coming to an end and I am getting ready for Autumn planting, but we still have lots of .....
....... beetroot.......

 spinach beet or perpetual spinach.......

 ..........more beetroot.........

 ..........limes.......

 ....spring onoins....

...........bok choy (hen pecked!) and lettuce......

Looking forward to planting some celery, snowpeas, sugar peas, rainbow chard, more lettuce, broccoli, red cabbage, spinach, carrots and some sweet peas and poppies.  A big day in the garden tomorrow!

My creative space...finishing off...

Hello.
Well I finished off my little bibs, and I mean completely finished off, all threads sewn in, and each one ironed nice and flat.  I got a bit carried away and ended up making 12, I still have a few colour combos I'd like to try too, they are quite an addictive little make!

I think they will wash fine as they are made from 100% cotton, and they have a nice soft feel too them.

I have even got my act into gear and put a few of them in my shop, if anyone is interested!

I think I might get a bit of crochet in today, it is looking very stormy and threatening here, but still warm, and I have Max home feeling sick, so I think a quiet day with a bit of crafting and cooking will be what we get up to.

Have a great day!

Bushranger Bay walk

Hello.
We have had a long weekend here ( can't remember what it's actually for), so it has been nice doing a few family things all together.
Gary and I decided to drag the boys down to Cape Schanck and do the Bushranger Bay walk, it is really a lovely part of the Peninsula, quite rugged and bushy, it feels quite isolated, but you are only a short way from a big tourist area.  It was quite busy there on Sunday, but the Bay walk is a longer walk so it wasn't too crowded.

Love these spindly tree trucks.......

..lots of bunny tails..........

........lots of hills to go down ( and come back up!)....

 .........first glimpse of the beach.......

..........pretty special place really.......

So just family stuff today, will have a bit of crafty crochet for you soon, nothing special, but crochet none the less!

Hope you had a great weekend too!

( on another matter, I have just found out that I can reply to your comments in the comments section,
I am a bit slow on the uptake I know, but I hope I will be a better communicator doing it this way, as I am often remiss in answering questions and getting back to lovely commenters.  So i will be trying to answer questions from now on in the comments section, make sure you check back if you want to know something !)

bubby crocheting......

Hello.
It's been a busy week here, hence the lack of posting.  I don't really know what I've been spending so much time on, just general busy life stuff I think.

Anyway, I have been fitting a bit of crochet in too.

I have a vague idea to do a few markets this year, so I have been making a few little baby things with this in mind.   Maybe Mathilda's Market ? My stuff is quite child focused, but I don't know if I'd be big enough, or enough of a 'business' to get into that one.  Anyone had a stall at any craft markets in Melbourne they can recommend? Any suggestions?

But I digress.......
Here's what I've been up to recently, taking a bit of a break from granny squares.....

These are little cotton bibs, I have been having fun mixing colours for the stripes.
I have a few more combos to try out before I'm finished.

So that's my creative space for today, a bit of crochet fun.
