Hello my yarny friends, I hope you are all going ok and staying healthy, I don't know what it's like where you are, but there is a lot of Covid around here, so many people have had it, I feel like I'm just waiting my turn. <div><br /></div><div>Anyway, it's nearly Easter and this is the time of year that I seem to like to crochet bunnies. I always think I'll have plenty of time to hook up a big bunch of bunnies, but time gets away from me.</div><div>So here are some bunnies that I made over the weekend, I'm pretty pleased with this little family, I used Rauma Garn Puno for the bigger bunnies and it was a dream to crochet with and has given them a cute fuzzy fabric. It's a blown type yarn where the fibres are blown into a tiny tube so its very light and airy. </div><div><br /></div><div>You can of course make these with any yarn you like, I've made tiny ones in 2ply and 4ply in the past and once a giant 20ply bunny which was fun. Just adjust your hook size for the yarn weight you are using, I always go down a few sizes so the fabric is nice and firm and the stuffing doesn't show through.</div><div><br /><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguBFxCScbxMze8pzLhVggRyfbJvfS-UmxwQQLygqdJg56Mn0EvHKu0lcUXrp1ORMxVvym5IKwjm_1XG4GGgOScKjCJHEqtbf1auYIAasueGh7O3GGieDPK2u6JAMvBHtdaDcLzDlBTxxrNT9D-QgJ3kEdc2E6cAS1QIbDZI0bTvyDgXrzALoDrSxzj/s2048/IMG_5023.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguBFxCScbxMze8pzLhVggRyfbJvfS-UmxwQQLygqdJg56Mn0EvHKu0lcUXrp1ORMxVvym5IKwjm_1XG4GGgOScKjCJHEqtbf1auYIAasueGh7O3GGieDPK2u6JAMvBHtdaDcLzDlBTxxrNT9D-QgJ3kEdc2E6cAS1QIbDZI0bTvyDgXrzALoDrSxzj/w640-h480/IMG_5023.JPEG" width="640" /></a></div><br /></div><div>I've popped a link to the pattern if you'd like to give it a try.</div></div><div> <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1NRwxGA9AOVEsGF7wVdd5JWamDnGpuUGP/view?usp=sharing"> find pattern over here</a></div><div>You can also find it on on my Ravelry page Julie Harrison Designs, I have updated the pattern slightly and also made it available free as a little thank you gift to all my yarny peeps. Steeking fun for all!)<p><br /><br /><br />Hello everyone! Just popping in here quickly to share this little video that we made at the shop last week. Mel and Louisa who work with me at Little Woollie Makes, recently both knitted beautiful cardigans, the pattern is called Otra Cardigan by Skeindeer Knits. we thought it would be fun to share the steeking process, as cutting our knits can seem very daunting! Steeking is a common way to create a cardigan when you are doing colour work knitting. It means that you can knit your cardigan on circular needles, all in the one direction (so no purl rows and going backwards and forwards like on straight needles) and you create a steeking seam that you can reinforce and cut once your garment is finished. Mel and Louisa also chat a bit about there yarn choices and knitting journey. </p><p>I hope you enjoy this video, it was fun to make!<br /><br />Here is a link t<a href="https://youtu.be/mA4YSKkil2Q" target="_blank">o the video on our YouTube channel </a>if you'd like to see what else we have been up to. I am trying to make more videos, so even though there is not a lot there at the moment, there will be more coming! <br /><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="357" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/mA4YSKkil2Q" width="485" youtube-src-id="mA4YSKkil2Q"></iframe></div><p></p>littlewoolliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00044255857519779930noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-985070342249816622.post-83725865120469612912022-01-31T16:54:00.001+11:002022-01-31T16:54:58.385+11:00First sock of the year<p> Hi there! I hope everyone has had a good week, it's been super hot and muggy here, not like our normal dry heat in summer, the humidity really takes it out of you! </p><p>I have mostly been working on small projects that are nice and portable, like the super cute Little Boxes Socks by <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/designers/summer-lee" target="_blank">Summer Lee Designs. </a> Her sock patterns are available on Ravelry and are great for colour play with colour work knitting and for using up small amounts of yarn like Advent sets and mini skeins. She has so many lovely designs, I want to make them all!</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhrFexhKWnJa0-6kaUHE7QZhwH-edV_GT2eMYicMTBKcTaCMwrugNdO0AoTKzbD3Mzf8mZGBdzlsy3XoaYdioAaecCGxdihA8dAyj3CRU89oTAfA6HylsjXJkW40ZzY4WmMfDoVY73_gXlzxU1n28EhxbYLUsBACzjhbTYGyxpmGN4CHegkQE-t4VQd=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhrFexhKWnJa0-6kaUHE7QZhwH-edV_GT2eMYicMTBKcTaCMwrugNdO0AoTKzbD3Mzf8mZGBdzlsy3XoaYdioAaecCGxdihA8dAyj3CRU89oTAfA6HylsjXJkW40ZzY4WmMfDoVY73_gXlzxU1n28EhxbYLUsBACzjhbTYGyxpmGN4CHegkQE-t4VQd=w480-h640" width="480" /></a></div><br /><p>This is the first one completed, I have started the second one and hopefully I'll stay interested long enough to actually finish this pair! :) I really like the after-thought heel that Summer does in this pattern (and lots of her other ones too) it is so easy! I do get tiny holes at the corner of the heel, but I will darn them closed when I weave in the yarn tails. </p><p>I can't remember if I mentioned it in my last post, but I am joining in on a Year of Socks for 2022 too, so aiming for one pair a month. These are the January ones, I have a feeling they might drag into February before they are finished, so I'm already a bit behind. lol, I tend to plan too big and run out of steam, but this is a bit early in the year to give up completely! I have some other gorgeous colour combinations picked out, so that should keep me motivated. :) On the positive side, I have already started my second Hexie for the Persian Dreams Blanket, so I'm ahead of schedule with that one! </p><p>I have some crochet on the go too, just some spotty facewashers, I'll show you those at a later date. </p><p>(I'm finding it a challenge to get back in the swing of taking photos for posts during the day and loading them onto the computer, I think Instagram has made me slack, the quickness of posting on there is quite an addictive thing. I'll need to find some discipline to get back in the habit of planning posts and getting the right photos for them!)</p><p>Ok, better go now and get dinner ready, it's my son Jesse's birthday today. I'm feeling the time flying by, I feel too young to have a 26 year old son, but it has happened! So it's a birthday celebration tonight, maybe a nice cold glass of champagne is called for! </p><p>Talk soon! xxxxxxxxxxx</p>littlewoolliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00044255857519779930noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-985070342249816622.post-16069566147512209752022-01-19T15:31:00.001+11:002022-01-19T15:31:52.345+11:00 Year of Colour 2022<p style="text-align: center;"> Well it has been along time between posts hasn't it! Hello out there!</p><p style="text-align: center;">Last year seemed to go by in a blur of lockdowns and Covid restrictions, I just didn't seem to find my blogging mojo at all. I'm hoping that 2022 will be different, and while we are all still living in a Covid world, maybe things will seem a little easier to manage. Although we are certainly doing our best to stay Covid safe, I really hope we can keep the shop open through the winter this year. </p><p style="text-align: center;">So what has been happening since my last post? </p><p style="text-align: center;">Little Woollie Makes Yarn Store is still here, we were able to keep trading online through the lockdowns even though the shop was closed to visitors, it kept us going and I can't thank all our wonderful customers enough for supporting our shop through the pandemic, I am so very grateful! xxxxxxx</p><p style="text-align: center;">I am an eternal optimist, and have kept on ordering more stock and sourcing lots of beautiful yarns to share with you all. It's such a problem when there are so many gorgeous yarns to tempt me, I really don't know when to stop!! </p><p style="text-align: center;">Mel is back working with me at the shop, and we have added another member to our little team, the lovely Louisa, who has mad knitting skills and is a gorgeous person as well! I feel so lucky to have such awesome people working with me at Little Woollie Makes. (it's hard to believe the shop only exists because I started this blog, it's been such a wonderful journey over the last 10 years or so!) </p><p style="text-align: center;"><br /></p><p style="text-align: center;">Which brings me to this year! We have been seeing so many gorgeous colourwork projects popping up on Ravelry and IG that we thought we might dedicate 2022 to being a Year of Colour, where we can explore some of the wonderful colourwork techniques that you can use to play with colour in knitting and crochet. Whether it is stranded colourwork, or more traditional fairisle patterns, double knitting, or intarsia work or tapestry crochet, there are lots of ways to bring more colour play into your yarny crafts. </p><p style="text-align: center;">I thought I might share things that inspire me, new patterns, or older patterns I've found that I'd like to make. If you would like to make along with us too, that would be lovely, we will be sharing our progress on Instagram and also on my Podcast ( it will make me actually record an episode!) in the newsletter, and I thought we might have a monthly Zoom get together for people who live far away, to see what other people have been making, so you can share your progress with us all that way too. You can pick to make whatever you like and we can all encourage each other through the year.</p><p style="text-align: center;">We were planning on having a monthly 'Year Of Colour' get together at the shop for any local peeps who are close enough to visit, but with the way the Covid numbers are going at the moment, we might have to wait a while to do that. Nevermind, I'm sure we can find ways to connect and inspire each other from afar.</p><blockquote style="border: none; margin: 0 0 0 40px; padding: 0px;"><p style="text-align: center;">-------------------------------------------------------------</p></blockquote><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjrkvzHeMGeNRs-NQK37tkRrPMxJ9JMqr3FCXAKJuI-Sa0Qtuxi-NHiCZI4Lxgsv5fAGI9p05l2zandmfRgLpokI1B_tUiD_uav6P_b-OjTm4vxoB2HJpUIkE-mq-wbMV7vvnPdiOymG9_WYyB7aFhbx0Ck_HCJbwGqTvrP-fJTqcZoYls_ctSPU7Rh=s3155" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3155" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjrkvzHeMGeNRs-NQK37tkRrPMxJ9JMqr3FCXAKJuI-Sa0Qtuxi-NHiCZI4Lxgsv5fAGI9p05l2zandmfRgLpokI1B_tUiD_uav6P_b-OjTm4vxoB2HJpUIkE-mq-wbMV7vvnPdiOymG9_WYyB7aFhbx0Ck_HCJbwGqTvrP-fJTqcZoYls_ctSPU7Rh=w613-h640" width="613" /></a></div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiwYYtGgvaXBHvPptmnm4dUrGRQOsolbk_ds6FJeG2eU9Nef7448jNtbrNuk65xKgkpaIoFB0ywMEW22rYiYlJgz4ME1LXzs44ZUSjID4ySHxTbJFnkhemsDrc9LYzVhVi5e0frPhTwmoWdHU7PmLy8sQehh_Ew1azTbrJSeaREpFp45KJ2hmqj9CUu=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiwYYtGgvaXBHvPptmnm4dUrGRQOsolbk_ds6FJeG2eU9Nef7448jNtbrNuk65xKgkpaIoFB0ywMEW22rYiYlJgz4ME1LXzs44ZUSjID4ySHxTbJFnkhemsDrc9LYzVhVi5e0frPhTwmoWdHU7PmLy8sQehh_Ew1azTbrJSeaREpFp45KJ2hmqj9CUu=w482-h640" width="482" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjgKdmZUkq3FfXEMC1_-OFOmRW__7KpTCnIF5HRDsivizPOwuGajhspz4TSvBYxLQ_ORebThteRByUd8xX157yhutXfShGxXI_IN3t30yEpkNn4IzyVMtgAacF3mv4--I6CGVki_Xw4I8Z9tclhC9EyfCbDYITrMPOPuQoSQkchL9W5_owbV3BrnL8C=s3780" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjgKdmZUkq3FfXEMC1_-OFOmRW__7KpTCnIF5HRDsivizPOwuGajhspz4TSvBYxLQ_ORebThteRByUd8xX157yhutXfShGxXI_IN3t30yEpkNn4IzyVMtgAacF3mv4--I6CGVki_Xw4I8Z9tclhC9EyfCbDYITrMPOPuQoSQkchL9W5_owbV3BrnL8C=s3780" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3780" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjgKdmZUkq3FfXEMC1_-OFOmRW__7KpTCnIF5HRDsivizPOwuGajhspz4TSvBYxLQ_ORebThteRByUd8xX157yhutXfShGxXI_IN3t30yEpkNn4IzyVMtgAacF3mv4--I6CGVki_Xw4I8Z9tclhC9EyfCbDYITrMPOPuQoSQkchL9W5_owbV3BrnL8C=w512-h640" width="512" /></a></div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjk4KYkEuyr4qhw19TPiw0n14aDfyouTV-qdG4LSZ4TsURukYJbtcP3RD134XFOifMbVMp8QAcDgpAw7PofoCjyrNHcQYtg_YS2uKYLGseY5DGHfLxBnf1sPQKaf50iesE-Zi--kZZHjb2EuVk5emUir2HnH-nIXx-9jl8Q8P3vMj17a3d7x24_jtvL=s3123" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3123" data-original-width="3016" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjk4KYkEuyr4qhw19TPiw0n14aDfyouTV-qdG4LSZ4TsURukYJbtcP3RD134XFOifMbVMp8QAcDgpAw7PofoCjyrNHcQYtg_YS2uKYLGseY5DGHfLxBnf1sPQKaf50iesE-Zi--kZZHjb2EuVk5emUir2HnH-nIXx-9jl8Q8P3vMj17a3d7x24_jtvL=w618-h640" width="618" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;">This is my first colourwork project for the year.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;"> It's the start of the amazing </span><a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/persian-dreams" style="text-align: left;" target="_blank">Persian Dreams blanket by Jenise Hope </a> , <span style="text-align: left;">the pattern can be found on Ravelry. </span></div><p style="text-align: center;">It is a large blanket made up of stranded colour work hexagons. I have just finished my first hexie, so it is going to be a slow burn project for me, I'll aim for one hexie a month I think. It is knit from the centre out. The photos show my progress from starting it on Double Pointed needles, then putting it onto a small circular and then upgrading to bigger cable lengths as the stitch count grew. It finished up on a 120cm cord! So quite a few stitches in each round at the end.</p><p style="text-align: center;">The pattern is actually made for 4ply yarn, but I have decided to do mine in 8ply with a 3.75mm needle. I am also not going to do all the different colour changes as shown in the pattern, instead I am choosing a hand dyed variegated colour as my contrast and a solid colour for my background. I am going to do each hexie a different combo of colours, so mine will have more of a patchwork feel to it I think. </p><p style="text-align: center;">This one used Great Southern Yarn 8ply in colour Brockoff's Hut for the background, and a Hedgehog Fibres DK potluck colour for the contrast. </p><p style="text-align: center;"> Mel has made an amazing cushion from 2 hexies done in 12ply, it is huge and squishy, I'll pop a pick up in other post. </p><p style="text-align: center;">I think that's all I have for today, I'll let you know when the vlog/podcast is ready if you're interested. </p><p style="text-align: center;">Stay healthy and happy in these strange times we find ourselves living through!</p><p style="text-align: center;">Julie xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx</p><p style="text-align: center;"><br /></p><p style="text-align: center;"><br /></p>littlewoolliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00044255857519779930noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-985070342249816622.post-61043692142161890472021-01-13T12:33:00.001+11:002021-01-13T12:33:38.855+11:00Crochet Eyeball Squares<p class="p1" style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: 14px;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: 14px;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizzeQOPI5uRyB5PNYmm-XeWuw39aOIgU1ux8JkBrj_2jzWWAvQpLa-tTPxV8W6EbkdqYFt0wDSa-TY6xH0EnlaIfBbfcSxh-QpTGwLwY5LrLA7GyA6KrYXLE9HH0lRF_PVUq72VQLpBqg/s640/IMG_4867.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizzeQOPI5uRyB5PNYmm-XeWuw39aOIgU1ux8JkBrj_2jzWWAvQpLa-tTPxV8W6EbkdqYFt0wDSa-TY6xH0EnlaIfBbfcSxh-QpTGwLwY5LrLA7GyA6KrYXLE9HH0lRF_PVUq72VQLpBqg/w640-h480/IMG_4867.jpg" title="Eyeball squares in the making" width="640" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: 14px;"> </span><p></p><p class="p1" style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: 14px;">Happy New Year and all that, I can't believe it's nearly the middle of January already! </span></p><p class="p1" style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: 14px;">2021 has started at a cracking pace with the first few weeks very busy in the shop, but I think we might have a bit of a quieter time this week, the weather has really improved and Summer is hitting with a vengeance, the beach is the place to be if you are lucky enough to still be on holidays! </span></p><p class="p1" style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: 14px;"> </span></p><p class="p1" style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: 14px;">I have been making some of these cute little colourful squares that I have called Eyeball Squares. </span></p><p class="p1" style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: 14px;">One of my favourite things about crocheting granny square type patterns is all the possibilities for colour play within each square. That's how these started, I had lots of colourful little scraps and stared making circles and adding more colours in each round, the rings of colours reminded me of an eyeball. :) Then it was a simple process to square them up, introducing a couple of more colours! <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hi there, my crochet friends! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope all has been good in your creative endeavours, I have been busy hooking up a storm recently, even though the blog silence may suggest otherwise! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Today I thought I'd share with you something I have been crocheting for fun - these little tapestry crochet heart flags. I seem to love the heart motif and have used it in many of my makes over the years, and I am quite pleased with these little bunting flags! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
They are not very big (only 11 stitches wide) so seem to hook up in no time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you are not familiar with Tapestry Crochet, there is a tutorial post I made a few years ago about how to do the basics that should show you how to change colours and crochet over the second colour to hide it inside the row. it is over here if you need a refresher. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have written up a little pattern so you can have a go at making some of these if they tickle your fancy. I have used 4ply wool and a 2.5mm hook for mine, but you could do them in 8ply and use a 3mm or 3.5mm hook. They are great stash busting makes, only needing a small amount of wool for each flag. </div>

I've been knitting houses :)<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7Ir04SEvfJYdMU7vIifD5UZz5nYVkJ-OMyPVfJQW1yK2ZXPyEtFGBNGX0gGI6DKp8rvFrKN7eoU_cFusZFZxhtrFf0KQES4bw_sJ6k0hUg28GqKNPcoQH6_UP9xt-VFpKnwQBbWGrQxo/s1600/AFBB3687-CA13-42A5-AA5A-D528C3E79FE2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="640" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7Ir04SEvfJYdMU7vIifD5UZz5nYVkJ-OMyPVfJQW1yK2ZXPyEtFGBNGX0gGI6DKp8rvFrKN7eoU_cFusZFZxhtrFf0KQES4bw_sJ6k0hUg28GqKNPcoQH6_UP9xt-VFpKnwQBbWGrQxo/s640/AFBB3687-CA13-42A5-AA5A-D528C3E79FE2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hello! It's been a while since I've blown the cobwebs off my poor neglected blog, but I didn't realise it has been quite so long since the last post!! Where has that time gone! I am going to try (again) to get back in the habit of blogging, it is such a nice way to record what I've been making and other stuff.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So in that spirit, here's some little houses I have been having fun making recently. They are quite small, so will make good brooches or woolly pins for project bags, or very cute hanging decorations for the Christmas tree.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The lovely knitting pattern is by <a href="https://www.juliamarsh.co.uk/" target="_blank">Julia Marsh at Hand Knitted Things</a> , she has other cute house patterns too!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I made a couple of mods to the pattern to get the size I wanted, and I think it has worked well!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I used 2 strands of different 4plys to give a marled effect and get to the 8ply for the pattern, the yarns are mostly Jamieson Shetland wool. I love the rustic nature of this wool, and there are heaps of colours to play with, so it's ticking all the boxes for this project!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
These are destined for my <a href="https://www.littlewoolliemakes.com.au/collections/yarny-love-advent-calendar" target="_blank">Yarn Advent Boxes</a> that I'm sending out in November, I've promised to include a few cute little extras and this is the first one I've made, they are kind of a surprise, but I doubt many people will read this far!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
They have all their tails stuffed inside making them a little bit puffy. :)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6TTiLw78WzkSqjgCHRAX5olujstA46VFlRW6piccja5zT-Fbf6_mEjFq_xtpcEd-fv7A_68mzxa5ibwdta8R2KsDxIobYZEa8fbs-MpLI73ix3R6nDStyoKxAcYweHePWA3ujsDAaOIE/s1600/IMG_9400.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="640" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6TTiLw78WzkSqjgCHRAX5olujstA46VFlRW6piccja5zT-Fbf6_mEjFq_xtpcEd-fv7A_68mzxa5ibwdta8R2KsDxIobYZEa8fbs-MpLI73ix3R6nDStyoKxAcYweHePWA3ujsDAaOIE/s640/IMG_9400.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So much fun playing with colour combos, and I really enjoyed embroidering the doors and windows! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have plenty of other things I need to share on here, so lets hope I get the blogging habit back and it becomes a regular part of my life again! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Have a lovely day everyone, thanks for reading, it's been great to get posting again!</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hello! This is a scarf I crocheted last year that I was pretty happy with, I'm thinking of making a few more in different colours. I think they would make good presents, what do you think? </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The pattern is called <a href="http://www.moyayarn.com/resources/MoYa%20Plume%20Diamond%20Cluster%20Scarf%20Pattern%20A4%202pp%20PRINT.pdf" target="_blank">Diamond Cluster Lace Plume Scarf</a>, a bit of a mouthful, but pretty easy and doable, a 3 row pattern repeat that is very effective. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It is by Bianca Boonstra and can be found on the Moya Yarn website in their free pattern section<a href="http://www.moyayarn.com/patterns.php" target="_blank"> over here</a> . </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The pattern is made for the <a href="https://www.littlewoolliemakes.com.au/collections/moyya-lace-plume" target="_blank">Lace Plume 2ply</a> cotton by Moya, (I have made one in this and it was lovely) but this time I have used the lace weight <a href="https://www.littlewoolliemakes.com.au/collections/adele-s-mohair-skinny-wool" target="_blank">Skinny Wool from Adele's Mohair.</a> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is a lovely single spun lace weight merino that comes in so many gorgeous shades. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It was great to crochet with too, and I love the lightness of it and how blocking the finished scarf really opened up the lacy pattern.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am enjoying using the smaller hooks and fine wool at the moment, I'm also making a few other things in 4ply that are looking pretty cute, and more crochet beads for necklaces, but I'll show you those another time. :) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Yes. I definitely think I need to get another one of these on my hook! Maybe in that Poppy Red this time.... </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Talk soon. xxxx</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Well, it's been quite a while since I've posted on here, so much for good intentions, it's been a busy time and the weeks have just been flying by!! I'd love to think I can blog here on a more regular basis, but it seems I'm just not organised enough! Also I used to take photos each day and then write about them at night, I don't seem to get the photos taken anymore, so everything grinds to a halt.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Must get the camera out more often! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Anyway, I have a pattern for a cute little decoration today, it is perfect for using up your favourite scraps of DK/8ply wool. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have been meaning to share it for ages, and am finally getting around to it today!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It is a flower ( I am still kind of obsessed with crochet flowers) that has different coloured petals, you make a circle for the centre then make 5 different coloured petals around the centre. Make 2 of these flowers and sew them together using the tails of yarn and stuffing any other tails into the centre. This makes quite a sturdy, thick, flat flower, I like to hang mine on the Christmas tree. It is very simple and you will soon be whipping up a heap of them! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I used some different scraps of hand dyed speckled 8ply, leftovers from my polka dot blanket, but you can really have a play with colour in this project, use whatever colours you like.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHupCOB6-kArVsuFEWmNnWUBfYjo9CLbJXmlVPakoBse7-l4lV4LjaxsSyu4WuNodyl4ptjlCrAMeQHO7Zney0ok5hYUIMkETJxkKiGk0t6U8Bc_mPyo9n0Th_yiFiZG3YV_iWQoyVu9w/s1600/IMG_6757.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHupCOB6-kArVsuFEWmNnWUBfYjo9CLbJXmlVPakoBse7-l4lV4LjaxsSyu4WuNodyl4ptjlCrAMeQHO7Zney0ok5hYUIMkETJxkKiGk0t6U8Bc_mPyo9n0Th_yiFiZG3YV_iWQoyVu9w/s1600/IMG_6757.jpg" /></a></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's the pattern if you'd like to have a go yourself. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Rainbow Petal Flowers</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
UK terminology.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Materials</b>: 8ply yarn scraps in different colours</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Hook</b>: 3.5mm</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>(starting chains do not count as stitches)</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In centre colour:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Round 1</b>: Ch3, join with slip stitch to 1st chain to form a ring, ch1, make 5dc into the ring, join with slip stitch to 1st dc to complete round. (5 stitches)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Round 2:</b> Ch1, make 2dc in each stitch of previous round, join with slip stitch to 1st dc to complete round. (10 stitches)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Round 3</b>: Ch1, make 2dc in 1st stitch, 1dc in next stitch, *then 2dc in next stitch, then 1dc in next stitch* continue repeating from * to * to end of round, join with slip stitch to 1st dc and bind off. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
(15 stitches) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Make Petals.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>For each petal:</b> (Leave a long tail when you join the new colour so you can use it to sew up later)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Working in the back loops of the stitches in the last round of the centre:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Row 1:</b> Join new colour to any stitch, ch1, 1dc in same stitch, 1dc in next stitch, 1dc in next stitch. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
(3 stitches) Turn work. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Row 2</b>: Ch1, 1dc in same stitch, 2dc in next stitch, 1 dc in next stitch. (4 stitches)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Row 3 and 4</b>: ch1, 1 stitch in each stitch (4 stitches)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Row 5:</b> Ch1, 1dc in same stitch, in next stitch (1htr,1tr, 1dtr), in next stitch (1dtr, 1tr, 1htr), 1dc in next stitch, bind off.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Make 5 petals around the centre, 1 in every 3 stitches.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Make 2 flowers like this, reversing the colour order of your petals so they match when wrong sides are put together, and use the tails of each petal to sew the 2 sides together.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Tadah! You have made a Rainbow Petal Flower!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It should look some thing like this:</div>

They look cute hanging from the Christmas tree, or you could hang them from presents, or make a garland or whatever you like really! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

Have a great weekend everyone, I hope you get some fun hooky time, it's not looking likely in my house, the silly season is well and truly here! </div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
A few months ago I started a new blanket using the polka dot square pattern that I made several years ago when I first learnt to crochet. It is still a favourite of mine because the circles are nice and solid and the squares turn out solid and fairly gap free. I'm not the biggest fan of open lacy crochet so this really appeals to me, I seem to make lots of solid, tight crochet fabric type projects.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In the original squares I striped the circles, giving a bullseye effect, </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
(you can see this cushion cover <a href="https://littlewoollie.blogspot.com/2012/02/polkadot-square-pattern-at-last.html" target="_blank">over here </a>if you are interested). </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For this blanket I wanted to use the rather large collection of speckled hand dyed 8ply wool I seem to have accumulated, there are lots of different dyers work in here, some of these I have dyed myself, but mostly they are from other dyers. I also had some lovely semi solid hand dyed colours, so they were also included. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is the updated version of the <b>Polka Dot Square</b> pattern..</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
UK crochet terms - dc = double crochet (US sc) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
htr = half treble (US hdc)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
tr = treble (US dc)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
slst = slip stitch</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
ch = chain</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Chains at start of each round do not count as stitches</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>The circles can start to curl up a bit around the edges, but they flatten out once the background is added. You can also stagger the increases so the increase points don't all sit on top of each other to get a rounder circle, as long as you keep the correct amount of single dcs in between the increase 2dcs. </i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>If you don't like the magic loop at the start you can Chain 4 and join to make a ring and then make the 8 dcs into the centre.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Centre Circle: Using circle colour</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Rd 1</b> : In a magic loop, make 8 dc, join to first dc with a slst to create first round. ( 8 sts)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Rd 2</b> : Ch 1, 2dc in 1st stitch, 2dc in each stitch around, join to 1st dc with a slst. (16 sts)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Rd 3</b> : Ch 1, 2dc in 1st stitch, 1dc in next stitch, *2dc in next stitch, 1dc in next stitch,* repeat to end of round, join to first dc with a slst. (24 sts)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Rd 4</b> : Ch 1, 2dc in 1st stitch, 1dc in next 2 stitches, *2dc in next stitch, 1dc in next 2 stitches* repeat to end of round, join to first dc with a slst. (32 sts)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Rd 5</b> : Ch 1, 2dc in 1st stitch, 1dc in next 3 stitches, *2dc in next stitch, 1dc in next 3 stitches* repeat to end of round, join to first dc with a slst (40 sts)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Rd 6</b> : Ch 1, 2dc in 1st stitch, 1dc in next 4 stitches, *2dc in next stitch, 1dc in next 4 stitches* repeat to end of round, join to first dc with a slst (48 sts)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Rd 7</b> : Ch1, 1dc in each stitch to end of round, join to first dc with a slst (48 sts)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Rd 8</b> : Ch1, 1dc in each stitch to end of round, join to first dc with a slst (48 sts)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Background:</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Rd 9</b> : join background colour to any stitch, ch1, *3dc, 3htr, 3dc in next stitch, 3 htr, 2 dc* </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
repeat *to* 4 times, join to first dc with a slst.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Rd 10</b> : Ch1, *2slst, 2dc, 1htr, 4tr in next stitch, 1htr, 4dc, 1slst* repeat *to* 4 times, join to first slst with a slst.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Rd 11</b> : Ch1, 1dc in each stitch of the round, making 2dc, in each of the 2 centre stitches of each 4tr corner. Bind off .</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My blanket has 80 squares, and is about a cot size, I haven't added a border yet, but plan to do a simple border of a few rows of dc, and then a final round with a few picots for interest. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have heaps of speckled wool left over, so might have to make another one of these, maybe with different coloured backgrounds this time, or maybe a pale blush pink....</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hello!! It's been a while since I've been over here, I'm blowing the dust off my blog and hoping to get back into blogging, I know I have said this before and it hasn't stuck, but I'm going to give it another crack, it is such a great way to record and share things! :)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Anyway, it is the start of September and Spring here in Australia, and our thoughts turn naturally to...Christmas! Just joking, it is super early to be thinking about Christmas, but I have an idea that I'd like to make some presents and decorations and it all takes lots of time! Usually I don't start my Christmas makes till much later in the year and then of course I never get things finished in time. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This year, now that I have the shop, I thought it might be nice to start a Handmade Christmas Club for anyone who is interested in getting their craft on for Christmas. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am thinking that we will meet once a month at the shop for a making, sharing, inspiring each other session. I will bring out my collection of books and patterns to get the creative spark going, and hopefully other people will have ideas for things they want to make too! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
(I also have some cute Christmas decoration kits coming soon in the shop, so there should be plenty of inspiration for things to make!)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I will share any cute/ Xmas gift potential patterns that I come across on here as well, so we can encourage each other over the next 4 months, and anyone can join us even if you can't come to the meet ups. I will probably do a weekly Handmade Christmas post and share anything I think is interesting! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The get togethers will be held at the shop in Hastings, Victoria, Australia, the dates I have for the Christmas Club get together are:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Sunday September 16th 12 - 4pm </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Sunday October 21st 12 - 4pm</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Sunday November 11th 12 - 4pm</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Sunday December 2nd 12 -4pm</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For the local girls coming to the get together, I'm thinking it will be a bit like the Saturday Crafternoons, costing $5 a head, you can bring your own stash yarns and materials, or buy things in the shop, and everyone will be working on their own different things. (I'll have some snacks and drinks to refresh us when we need a break. :) )</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Feel free to get in touch if you'd like to come along, and I'll make sure I have enough chairs! :) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Anyway, that's all I can think of at the moment, maybe no one else will be interested and I'll be crafting by myself, but it should be a bit of fun!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Have a lovely crafty day peeps! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<br />
Hello everyone!<br />
I hope you're having a good week, it's a beautiful day here and I'm making bunnies! :)<br />
I have had so much going on recently, (I've been trying to push myself out of my comfort zone and run more classes and workshops) it seems like my brain is always buzzing and full!<br />
Organisation is not my strong suit, (as my sporadic posting over here shows! ) so I do find it quite a challenge to get everything ready for workshops. I'm slowly getting slightly more comfortable with running workshops, I find if I keep my intro very short and we just get on with the making, I can enjoy the afternoon and just talk with people one on one. <br />
Anyhoo, that's just what I've found seems to work well. :)<br />
<br />
But I digress! I was going to talk about this little bunny rabbit I've made for an amigurumi workshop on the weekend. The girls all seemed to enjoy making him, and we ironed out a few pattern faults, (thank you ladies!!) so I thought I would pop the pattern up for sale on my <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/little-woollie-rabbit" target="_blank">Ravelry pattern page </a>for anyone who would like to make one too! Also, I think he would be a great little Easter bunny gift !<br />
<br />
I made him out of Scheepjes Cahlista cotton, which is 10ply, and used a 3.5mm hook, so it's a nice tight fabric. You could use an 8ply cotton with a 3mm or 2.5mm hook as well, and I have also made a small bunny with 4ply wool and a 2mm hook. It is great for using up small amounts of yarn, so start stash busting!!<br />
<br />
These bunnies don't take too long to make, you could probably whip one up in a couple of nights, so I think a whole bunny family is very doable. :) The little satchel bag is also the perfect size for a mini chocolate egg. I think I might make a couple of these for my nephews for Easter, I do have a lot of colour combos to try out!<br />
<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hello there! Happy New Year 2018! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2017 went by in such a blur, I really hope this year meanders a bit more so there is time to do all the things properly. Enjoy, relax and savour the process of making, and not the 'half arsed, that will have to do, run out of time' rush of a year like 2017! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm sure I will make big plans that never get realised, it happens every year. I think I will do a priority list so at least the things I really want to try get done!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Which brings me to Sock Knitting. :) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am so in love with sock yarn, I really want to make All The Socks, there are just so many beautiful colours and clever dyers and challenging patterns out there! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm thinking a doable goal would be one pair a month for 2018, that would give me 12 pairs or 24 individual socks, (because I just know I'm not going to want to make a second matching sock, they can be samples for the shop of all the amazing yarns!) Surely I can manage that! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm off to a good start anyway, the photos are of my first sock for the year, I started it on the weekend and am going to go and turn the heel after I finish this so hopefully I'll have one finished later this week! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm loving the combo of charcoal with the amazing speckles, </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
this is '<a href="https://www.littlewoolliemakes.com.au/collections/spun-right-round-sw-sock-80-20" target="_blank">Strange Trip' from Spun Right Round </a>with <a href="https://www.littlewoolliemakes.com.au/collections/cascade-heritage-sock-yarn" target="_blank">Cascade Heritage Sock in Charcoal</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I still have a couple of skeins of these in the shop I think, but will have to order more, its so lovely! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The pattern I'm using is the excellent 4ply Basic Sock pattern from<a href="http://www.winwickmum.co.uk/" target="_blank"> Winwick Mum</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
There are so many colours speckled through this yarn!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuYbqRuXgOLKuR9szJWZtfQUWs7wQhJjaA3hXsU6nOlS2LgdbqY4iyTn6nV1dAKsqF3gj2qsQx8FP6_NoQjkEybZ3ggG76VmwUahsKC0VKq9pbU_QgClIq4G2BFYw65Lg2yhgJkeZQ-3E/s1600/IMG_4761.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuYbqRuXgOLKuR9szJWZtfQUWs7wQhJjaA3hXsU6nOlS2LgdbqY4iyTn6nV1dAKsqF3gj2qsQx8FP6_NoQjkEybZ3ggG76VmwUahsKC0VKq9pbU_QgClIq4G2BFYw65Lg2yhgJkeZQ-3E/s640/IMG_4761.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Anyway, that's the first of my yarny ambitions for 2018, I'm sure I'll come up with plenty more! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
There are lots of new yarns coming to the shop over the next few months, I am always inspired by new yarns and just have to give them a try out, so lots of new projects are sure to be started, and maybe even finished! :) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Have a great day my crafty friends, Julie xxx</div>

<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica'; font-size: 11.000000pt;">Hi there! I hope you're having a great day wherever you are! </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica'; font-size: 11.000000pt;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="font-size: 14.6667px;">So December is nearly here, and that means Christmas is just around the corner!! Eek! Where has the year gone? I feel like I have been going backwards this year, always chasing my tail! Hopefully I'll be more organised next year and get my act together!! :) </span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="font-size: 14.6667px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="font-size: 14.6667px;">Anyway, I have been doing a bit of crochet and I thought I'd share a little Christmas decoration that I've been making this week, I like to try and come up with a new decoration each year and this is what I've made for this year! </span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="font-size: 14.6667px;">I hope you like it! It has a bit of a rustic, folky feel which I like. </span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica'; font-size: 11.000000pt;">These cute crochet Christmas Trees are made in 2 flat pieces, a front and back, that are
then crocheted together. They can be left flat or can be stuffed for a more 3D effect,
They are very simple to make, I have done a spotty bobble version and a striped version,
so you can make a whole forest of dangley trees if you like! There are lots of ways you could decorate these trees you could add a little sparkly star to the top and a loop and hang them, you could sew on beads or buttons, or make little stands from slices of branches and stand them up like a forest. or you could make a few and turn them into a Christmas bunting! ( I think I might do this with mine!)</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica'; font-size: 11.000000pt;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica'; font-size: 11.000000pt;"><br /></span>

<br />
Hi there my crafty friends! How's your October going? It has been a busy month for me, but then again this whole year seems to have flown by, life away from the computer has been full on!<br />
<br />
Anyway, I have still been finding time to crochet so it's all good. :) <br />
<br />
A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to receive a copy of a gorgeous new crochet book called 'Home Decoration in Crochet' by Tanya Eberhardt, and was asked to take part in a blog hop to celebrate the release of the book. I was happy to say yes! You might already know that Tanya has a fabulous crochet and knitting blog called <a href="http://www.littlethingsblogged.com/" target="_blank">Little Things Blogged</a>, and now she has written this beautiful book full of lovely crochet designs to make for your home. I also think there are lots of projects in this book that would make great gifts!<br />
<br />
I decided to try out this cute doily pattern, because I really love the colours in the photos of the 3 sizes of doily, and I like their updated retro feel. The pattern was easy to follow and had both written and graphic instructions which I really liked, (often I like to refer to the graphic pattern to get an overview of the design).<br />
I think it has turned out really well, I have decided I'm going to have an ongoing project, making pot holders and doilies when I find cute patterns, and make an installation on a wall in the shop, I think this might be my first one to pop on the wall!<br />
There are several projects in this book that I'd like to make, and with designs for blankets, cushions, bags and lots of smaller projects like pin cushions and jar cosies, there is something for every skill level! I also really liked the geometric popcorn cushion pattern, that might be the next one I try out!<br />
<br />
There are lots of other bloggers taking part in the blog hop, sharing lots of different projects from the book, you can find the schedule on Tanya's post over <a href="http://www.littlethingsblogged.com/2017/10/home-decoration-in-crochet-book-tour.html" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hi there everyone! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I hope your day is going well, it is beautiful here, Spring has finally arrived and it is so good!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Today I'm sharing something exciting that a friend of mine has done, </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Michelle Robinson of <a href="https://poppyandbliss.com/" target="_blank">Poppy and Bliss</a> fame has written a wonderful book all about Tunisian Crochet, it's called 'Tunisian Crochet Workshop' and I was lucky enough to be given a copy of the e-book to review and be part of a blog hop to celebrate the launch of the book </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrio80yXg2Kl8i4sS58ntayTOOw3V0iBHsxpMSjl0oA1D8szJKsxfj1EfIrWzu-0F-Q_fTrvDS_oonMPwh7bld-B1_BabAgo0hKNabV411AMoS0B7ctHHDFAzc7FgGepNCmFpV_XuLGBQ/s1600/Tunisian-Crochet-Workshop-1-768x860.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="860" data-original-width="768" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrio80yXg2Kl8i4sS58ntayTOOw3V0iBHsxpMSjl0oA1D8szJKsxfj1EfIrWzu-0F-Q_fTrvDS_oonMPwh7bld-B1_BabAgo0hKNabV411AMoS0B7ctHHDFAzc7FgGepNCmFpV_XuLGBQ/s640/Tunisian-Crochet-Workshop-1-768x860.png" width="570" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As someone who hasn't dabbled in Tunisian crochet before, this book was excellent at explaining </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
the techniques for a beginner, while also exploring lots of more advanced stitches for when you are ready for more. Also, the projects are very cute! Michelle has created a truly comprehensive guide to Tunisian Crochet, I'm sure it will become my go to book on this subject! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I chose to play with the basic stitches in a swatch format just to start learning about Tunisian Crochet, I love how some of the stitches create a fabric very similar to knitting, there is such a lot of scope for creativity with this form of crochet! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi74Ky0cqtIiDIeFx9AFXE68T6P6IYOb1kfjYkirQpcrKyZ1EUAkCgnpHnwXHofGq2PbeJ6qAUhq43V6MVRKLwBD-bdGVf7vTcTteoFDJxvkjcVzKsHhBytCny1NN5kzaZTsh9PMKzDY0o/s1600/IMG_4212.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="640" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi74Ky0cqtIiDIeFx9AFXE68T6P6IYOb1kfjYkirQpcrKyZ1EUAkCgnpHnwXHofGq2PbeJ6qAUhq43V6MVRKLwBD-bdGVf7vTcTteoFDJxvkjcVzKsHhBytCny1NN5kzaZTsh9PMKzDY0o/s640/IMG_4212.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here are my first attempts at Tunisian crochet, the bottom section is the basic stitch, the middle section is Tunisian knit stitch, and the top section is Tunisian Purl stitch. I enjoy them all, and am thinking I'll make some washcloths to practice a bit more before I try one of the gorgeous projects in the book. I am also planning to explore the colour work section of the book more fully, so many great colour play opportunities with Tunisian crochet. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you'd like to have a sneak peep at the book, <a href="http://www.book2look.com/book/F3yWSH7kvy&euid=0&ruid=0" target="_blank">go here to check it out</a>. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The book is available from Sewandso, you can <a href="https://www.sewandso.co.uk/product/tunisian-crochet-workshop/402384" target="_blank">buy a copy here</a> or in <a href="https://www.sewandso.co.uk/product/tunisian-crochet-workshop-ebook/804314" target="_blank">e-book</a> format.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To see what the other lovely bloggers thought about this book the <a href="http://ideas.sewandso.co.uk/tunisian-crochet-workshop-blog-hop/" target="_blank">blog hop details are here</a>, </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I would thoroughly recommend this book to anyone interested in learning Tunisian Crochet, Michelle has done a wonderful job with this book! xxxxxxxxxxx</div>

<br />
Hi there!<br />
I thought I'd show you something that I've been making over the last week or so, it's a mandela that is going to become a cushion. :) The pattern is called <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/sources/marrakech-crochet-pattern-pack" target="_blank">Marrakech Cushion by Sandra Eng</a> , I had been admiring Sandra's cushion on Instagram ( she is <complete id="goog_441037398">@</complete>mobiusgirl over there) , so was very happy when she released the pattern!!<br />
<br />
Here is the front all finished, the top photo was when I was about half way through, you can see that the finished front has grown quite a bit! I used<a href="https://www.littlewoolliemakes.com.au/collections/cascade-ultra-pima?page=1" target="_blank"> Cascade Ultra Pima cotton</a> for this, I have gone to my favourite colours for this one, it just seems to happen that way!! When I've finished the back and sewn it together I'll pop a post up to show you. I'm hoping to make a little stack of these cushions in different colours, I think they will look cute in the shop!<br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hi there!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Once again it has been a long time between posts, I don't know why, but I haven't really found my blogging rhythm this year, but there has been plenty happening behind the scenes!! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I guess the biggest thing that has happened since I last posted is that I've moved Little Woollie Makes Yarn Store into a proper shop in Hastings, a town not far from my home. I no longer run it from home and it feels much more legit! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It has been a big decision to move into a shop. Would it be the right move? Could I cover my rent? Plus all the other expenses that crop up with a lease? Would I find more customers? Would they buy from me? Would I get bored being tied to a shop all week? There were plenty of unknowns!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In the end I just decided it was time to give it a go, if it doesn't work at least I will have given it my best and will not die wondering! So the last few months have been a whirl wind of leasing a shop, setting it up, moving everything from home to here, and getting open! Luckily I have an awesome family that have given me a lot of help and been very encouraging and supportive, it would have been a lot harder without them!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So you know what? I am now running a local wool shop!! Yay! I can hardly believe it myself!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Little Woollie is no longer just an online shop, people can come and give the yarns a squish and see all the beautiful colours in the flesh, much better!! :)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have to say, I have had so much fun over the last few weeks, setting everything up, meeting lots of gorgeous yarn loving people who all get what I'm trying to do here, it is so good!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have a lot more space than I did at home, so I have been busy sourcing new stock and approaching suppliers on my wishlist, so many new things coming into the shop over the next few months, it's going to be great!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So here are a few pics I took of the shop this morning, it is looking nice and colourful at the moment, I really like coming here to work each day! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hello! Hope you're having a great day wherever you are! :) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have been making a new <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/wheels-within-wheels-2" target="_blank">Wheels Within Wheels</a> blanket recently. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It is colourful and fun, I really like this pattern, the wheels stick out for a great thick textural effect that I enjoy making. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The pattern is by Frankie's Knitted Stuff and can be found on <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/wheels-within-wheels-2" target="_blank">Ravelry</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I decided to make my wheels a bit bigger so added 2 extra rounds of colour, lots of opportunity fro colour play! I am using a few different 8ply wools to get the colours I want, mainly Heirloom Colorworks, Baby Merino 8ply, Loyal 8ply and Cascade 220 Superwash.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've made a couple of these before <a href="https://littlewoollie.blogspot.com.au/2015/02/seaside-wheels-within-wheels-finished.html" target="_blank">here</a> and <a href="https://littlewoollie.blogspot.com.au/2014/06/wheels-within-wheels-blanket-finished.html" target="_blank">here</a> if you want to see them. </div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have just started doing the background of each wheels now, I am using my favourite Silver Grey in Cascade 220 Superwash as a good neutral foil to all the colours. I have 48 wheels so it will take a bit of time! </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So I think that's it for the minute, hopefully I'll have the squares ready for joining soon, although I think they will need a fair bit of blocking as the corners are curling up a lot. Have a great creative day peeps! </div>

It's been a while....<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbLsCc5w8VhU2wesN-XWBO_VAkblSm66skoQErYflfdONE4f-1HRV-2G4Qmri6afkPZ6OX8f_H8ForQGnJU2Yqt1g4vGFq2QFroe40SqOPYS1UAKp4_Oy3ZcHbI6Pp7xY1QujFrDzAiP4/s1600/IMG_8667YLCwinter2017.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="853" data-original-width="1280" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbLsCc5w8VhU2wesN-XWBO_VAkblSm66skoQErYflfdONE4f-1HRV-2G4Qmri6afkPZ6OX8f_H8ForQGnJU2Yqt1g4vGFq2QFroe40SqOPYS1UAKp4_Oy3ZcHbI6Pp7xY1QujFrDzAiP4/s640/IMG_8667YLCwinter2017.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Well that 4 months just disappeared! I really don't know why my poor blog has been so neglected, and have no excuses other than time has just been flying by and my "I'll get to my blog tomorrow" mantra never really stuck! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Oh well, I have lots of things to share with you anyway, so at least that is something! :) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Today I have to let you know that I am running a <a href="https://www.littlewoolliemakes.com.au/products/yarny-love-club-winter-2016-june-july-august" target="_blank">Winter Yarny Love Club</a>, and there are only a few days left to sign up! Sorry about the short notice! :) It costs the same as the Autumn Club, and there is more info in my shop <a href="https://www.littlewoolliemakes.com.au/products/yarny-love-club-winter-2016-june-july-august" target="_blank">over here.</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So what has been filling all my time away from my beloved blog? </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have been crocheting (of course), and have been making some amigurumi animals, and a new blanket, plus lots of little things!<br />
I've been doing the Markets, although the season has finished now so I'm technically restocking over winter with lots of new products!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've held quite a few workshops in my studio which has been fun, (I will post the ones for June on here tomorrow to let everyone know what's going on). </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have been adding new yarns to my shop and dreaming about new projects to make with them.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have learnt to hand dye wool! So much fun and definitely worthy of a separate post !</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am knitting socks with my handdyed wool, so great to see how the colours knit up. :) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am having a stall at the Australian Sheep and Wool Show in Bendigo in July, so am starting to plan what I'm taking, putting kits together and dyeing up some of my own wool as well as some gorgeous yarns from around the world. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And I have some exciting plans in the works for my little wool shop, fingers crossed I can share them with you all soon! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thanks to everyone who has left comments over the last few months, I have just logged on to find them all sitting there waiting to be approved! :)<br />
Have a great day lovelies, hope you're doing something fun!</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hi there! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I hope everyone is having a great day, I have a colourful post for you today! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have been hooking steadily away through January and I've actually finished my first project for 2017! Yay! :) That's pretty good going for me! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This blanket was quite the speedy make, I seemed to have enough squares made in no time and then it was just a matter of sewing them all together and hooking a border up. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have to say that I loved working with the MoYa Caresse Aran Cotton, it was nice and textural and worked up fast with a 5mm hook. The colours were all so beautiful and worked so well together all the combinations look great (well I think so anyway!) . I love that slightly washed out look of the MoYa palette, and the hand dyeing process leaves some nice subtle variations in the colours which I really like. (You can see this most in the border where there are a few rows of the same colour).</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This has ended up about cot size, nice for a baby or lap blanket. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So here's the nitty gritty: </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Pattern: <a href="https://littlewoollie.blogspot.com.au/2017/01/solid-granny-square-pattern-my-version.html" target="_blank">My version of a Solid Granny Square </a>(108 squares)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Yarn: <a href="https://www.littlewoolliemakes.com.au/collections/moya-caresse-aran?page=1" target="_blank">MoYa Caresse Aran Cotton</a> in 10 different colours</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hook: 5mm</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Size: cot size (9 x12 squares) </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh871Pqk7msf7l5XYxEfY_XjSpeQrAmFmNcJvCPNuRNfHITprw0xg4St-DhV79_UIDmwdrYQnIybeGPZggAE8OlB1NcjWMYlet5GxIOPsfuTZgpvyulHJzniEG4MH_J3Xlj6pEHe2qn4bM/s1600/IMG_3062.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="462" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh871Pqk7msf7l5XYxEfY_XjSpeQrAmFmNcJvCPNuRNfHITprw0xg4St-DhV79_UIDmwdrYQnIybeGPZggAE8OlB1NcjWMYlet5GxIOPsfuTZgpvyulHJzniEG4MH_J3Xlj6pEHe2qn4bM/s640/IMG_3062.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
........this was when I was blocking the blanket after joining all the squares together, I thought about blocking each individual square, then decided to wait till they were all joined, it seems to have worked out ok. It is quite a thick textured blanket, and i like the slightly puffy look to the squares....</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjw0g9ZMwI0sxTigER43kQn00Mua3oPF5je_F-uVA9M99xVIvTT4ziBAFhOw0i1GgTzsfcUuhYQArhPF55wKdTDp4Mjx_QGaaMhE8yFmBrJTSCtU-M9AkIbLqnOnG6vm43YhP-hXEX3VVo/s1600/IMG_3079.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjw0g9ZMwI0sxTigER43kQn00Mua3oPF5je_F-uVA9M99xVIvTT4ziBAFhOw0i1GgTzsfcUuhYQArhPF55wKdTDp4Mjx_QGaaMhE8yFmBrJTSCtU-M9AkIbLqnOnG6vm43YhP-hXEX3VVo/s640/IMG_3079.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
.....tadah! All finished! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Onto the next thing now, it feels great to have something completely finished in under 6 weeks, I wonder if I can keep the momentum going and get the next one finished as quickly! Not likely! :) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Have a great day/night everyone, happy hooking!! </div>
