My daughter was afraid to go to school for fear the other kids would think she was violent. In the end, her teachers allowed her to discuss Asperger's and answer questions...Thank you for keeping Newtown in your thoughts. I am involved with several groups on Ravelry that are collecting squares to stitch into blankets if you are interested! I have over a dozen already, and hope to send one for each life lost that day, including the killer's mother. How awful for them to have to live through that. It all seems worse when you learn that the children were only aged 6-7, and that they were shot multiple times. These innocent children lost their lives for NO reason, they and their families were looking forward towards the holidays I'm sure...and now the gathering is to send them off to eternal rest. I just don't understand! It was just a few days ago a man in Oregon USA went on a shooting spree in a mall and killed two and turned the gun on himself also critcally injured a 15 year old who's fighting for her life. Mental illness is real and so many of us just simply brush it off! Some of them reach out for help and we just turn our backs. It needs to be taken seriously!!! Thanks Jules for the condolences! Our country is very broken hearted right now and WE appreciate all the support, thoughts and prayers global wide! Thank you. I am no where near where the tragedy occurred, but am holding thoughts of the families close in my heart. I've only been following you for a short time and have been wanting to tell you that you've inspired me to get reacquainted with my crochet hook again...LOVING your stripey blanket quilt along (I've just finished the first 'chevron' row). Tonight as I sat and watched our news broadcasts about the terrible events of the day...I stitched along, it was soothing. In days to come, when I look at this blanket, I will remember this day, the children...the teachers...the mother...the families...and I will feel sad, however to forget them would even be sadder. But this blanket will also be a reminder that life is a blessing to be cherished every day. It is terrible but I am sure this time of year makes it appear 1000's times more awful to comprehend. What drives someone to do something so barbarack. How will that community every recover. The surviving children's lives will always be marred by this terrible event.

On a crochet note, what are you making?

Colettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05918092647201479349noreply@blogger.com
