Colour My Day Monday

Hello.
Just because it is quite dull and dreary here today, and just because it makes me happy, I have a bit of a colour hit for you today.
I was in the 2 dollar shop today looking for something completely different, and happened to come across a heap of crochet cotton, so I had to buy some of course!  I have been slowly adding to my cotton collection, as finding good colours around here can be difficult, so when I see some colours that fill a gap in the rainbow I grab them!

The six larger balls at the back are the ones I found today, some nice blues and greens and a lovely watermelon red and a tomato red too.  Lovely!

Added to the smaller balls that I already had, I now have some gorgeous colour combos happening, and if I can't make something great from all that colour, I'm a complete idiot!

As it happens, I do have some macro crochet ideas to have a go at, so I am going to get cracking on them very soon.  I am pulling out the tiny hooks so it could be a bit tedious, but I think it will be worth it.

Also, check out the gorgeous colours of these sewing threads!  They were a lucky find at the oppy the other day, brand new and just waiting for me to take them home.

Anyway, I hope that gives you a little colour burst for your day every you are, and I hope it makes you feel good like it does me!

  3. What a cheery little burst of colour! Thank you. I needed that little pick-me-up. After 3 hours of interrupted sleep (Between my new-born and the 2 that have high fevers)my disposition needed a little "sunshine". What a great find for you. I must say I'm just a wee bit jelous. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

  14. Ooo what a tonic for the soul. Despite it being the height of summer here it has been raining for days and we are wearing thick sweaters and winter coats. Lots of colour is exactly what we need. Eleanor x

  16. Vibrant coloured cotton does seem hard to come by but those are so pretty. Are they really fine? Its difficult to tell in a photo. I have been disappointed many times when going to by cotton as it looks bright on the monitor but in real life its a bit dull or chalky. Thanks for the colour. Its been so grey and dull here for so long that I am in need of a fix! xxx

  21. Which $2 shop did you find the cottons in? I just had a little win myself on ebay. I found a mixed lot of coloured crochet cotton and won them for only $5.50. I am yet to receive them. I have never used crochet cotton, but have a number of doily and fine motif patterns which I am dying to try out. I'll wish us both luck!

  26. Wow, what a whole bunch of color. Very cheerful, indeed! And what great thrift stores you must have near you. I rarely spot any craft goodies at our thrift stores (at least that are in decent shape).
