Happy weekend...

What a gorgeous weekend!!
It is the last couple of days of winter, but we had a taste of things to come with a beautiful sunny, still day , just perfect for getting out in it!

So that's what we did.

My friend and I are golf widows most Saturdays, so I gave her a call and we took our boys for a great stroll along the beach.....

.......negotiating the creek wall without getting wet.....

.........we had the beach pretty much to ourselves.....

........couldn't keep the clothes on the kids, even though it was still quite chilly, Max had a bit of a dip, I guess there is no point going to the beach without getting wet.......

......digging the hole......

..........burying the littlest, heaps of fun!!

.....stopped for and icy pole at the corner shop on the way back......

..............and I had to show you one of my favourite houses down there, the cute little heart house, I'd love to live in house like this near the beach one day........

So all in all a lovely day.
I visited my grandpa and aunt this morning with my sister and nieces, and did a bit of sowing some summer seeds and chatting with the boys, and they did some cleaning up around here while I was out, which was much appreciated, so it was quite the busy weekend, you can fit a lot into 2 days when the weather is inspiring!

I hope you had a great weekend too!
What did you get up to?

Not much happening.....

Hello!
How is your week going ?
Mine is going quickly already!!

We had a busy weekend, going down to Geelong to catch up with friends and family, and I always find it takes me a couple of days to get back into the swing of things when I get home from a weekend away. The washing alone seems to be even more overwhelming than usual!!

Not a lot of crafting time at the moment, the weather is really beautiful today and is supposed to stay this way for the rest of the week, so I am trying to give the garden some attention. I have bought a mountain of seeds and need to get them in the ground! And mowing and weeding are also on the agenda, so there is the next few days sorted!

Thought you might like a peek at the next bit of the stripey blanket that I've done, it does look just like the rest of it, but trust me, this is a new bit! I am hopeful that I will have this blanket finished in the next fortnight, so I won't show any more till a big ta da post. I can't wait to get this finished!!

........Bought myself this gorgeous pattern the other day off etsy. It's called The Beekeeper Quilt, I've never bought a PDF pattern before, but it was super easy, and I think I will be buying a few more this way in the future.
I couldn't resist the cute little puffy hexagons, and I think it will be a lovely blanket to do in between other stuff. I found it at Tiny Owl Knits, there is a lovely blog too.

Anyway, hopefully I'll have a bit more to chat about next post, must sort out my giveaway, I haven't forgotten, just been side tracked by real life!!
Have a great day!

my creative space...more finishing..

Hello....

Today I am hoping to get these little hats finished off and another granny softie sewn up.
Don't know if it will actually happen though as it is already 3 o'clock and the boys will be home soon and then we have basketball and dinner prep and several other things that I am sure will eat up the rest of the afternoon, so not feeling confident.
Really should have done it this morning, but went for a nice walk with a friend instead and cleaned up a teenagers room, which has taken the rest of the day!

.....Some days it's harder to be creative than others....

Hope you are getting more done than me!
Have a look over here....

day tripping haul.....

Hello!!

The other day Gary had a day off work so we decided to do a day trip to the country. We headed towards Bendigo so I could visit the woollen mills and replenish my stash......

I found lots of lovely wool that I couldn't resist!

I picked up a bargain with the mint green balls in the plastic bags at the front, it is the exact same wool I use heaps of, just without the labels, and it is a discontinued colour and one of my favourites, so I have been trying to stock up when I see it in wool shops before I can't get it any more. Anyhoo, there it was sitting on a shelf in the infamous bargain back room, bags and bags of my favourite wool! Usually around $5.80 a ball, here $2.50 a ball. Yay! I've stocked up!!

Also picked up quite a few other bits and pieces that should keep me busy for a while. We stopped in at Kyneton on the way back, and the wool shop there 'Pick up Stitches' was having a sale, so I found a few more balls to take home with me!

Stay tuned for lots of new stuff from this haul!

shot of colour......

hello.
Very dreary here today so I have decided to give a little burst of spring colour in these warm yellows oranges and reds.
Just to brighten the day.

( This boronia is not really in the colour theme, but a sure sign spring is on the way and, and such a gorgeous scent!! So worth growing!)

Flowers all from our garden, quite pleased with that.

I feel cheered up already!

Have a great day!

My creative space...more finished softies

Hello!
You might remember I had a little pile of flat owls sewn together and waiting patiently to be stuffed and finished....well I have got my act into gear and finally got them finished!

This was the bit that was holding me up.. finding the perfect wing...see what I was making those half circles for the other day? I think the lacy wings really finish these birdies off nicely.

Soooo...... what do you think? You like?

They turn out taller and skinnier when they are stuffed and it gives them a different look and personality I think. Their ears are quite shapable and I can make them look quizzical and amusing.....

I still love all these colour combinations........

I have been a busy girl and actually popped this little family in my shop, along with granny porky.... am in 'finishing off'' mode now so you might see some other things going that way too, I have plenty of unfinished projects around here to give my attention!

On another front, my blogging has got a lot easier today, I have discovered how to reduce my photos in size, and voila, all my blogger problems seem to have disappeared! I think my photo files were way too big and taking forever to upload and it was just timing out. So now it takes like 2 seconds to upload 5 photos!! I am a fairly low tech person, probably why it has taken me this long to figure this out. But the good news is now I can put lots more photos in my posts! Yay! I hope the quality of the photos doesn't suffer too much in the reduction, I think they will be alright for blogging purposes.

Anyhoo, playing along over here today, check out the creative types and all their creations!

Softie love....

hello!

I thought I would show you my new softie - granny porky, my version of a piggy!

......I used slightly more muted colours than usual, but I am happy with this paler pink piggy, the snout is maybe a bit chunky, but anyhoo, I am pretty happy with her......

.....she is very squishy and cuddly, Max tested her out for me!
------------------------------------

I decided to give my blog a bit of a renovation, you know, a change is as good as a holiday and all that.......

Have a great day!

Sunday sun....

Today has been a beautiful wintery, springy day, when a rainy, stormy day was forecast, so really a bonus nice day!

Today I dragged the two younger boys on a bike ride to Balnarring, they weren't really keen, but the lure of chips and potato cakes finally won them round, and I think they might have even enjoyed themselves. Gary met us there in the 'support vehicle' and Max threw his bike in the back for the trip home, but Andre and I rode home and made pretty good time! Nice to get a bit of variety in the exercise regime now and then.

Today I made a chocolate cake and a coconut cake, I'm hoping I won't have to bake tomorrow.

Today I sat in the afternoon sun and did a bit of quiet hooking, these are the finishing touches to some little makes that have been crying out to be finished for a few months. I finally found the inspiration I needed in the perfect shape of these half circles..... I think they will be just what was called for........ I will show you the finished things later in the week when they are all sewn together nicely.

Today I thought about what to do for a give away for you guys, and I think I have a plan....more on that later.....

I have to say I am loving my sunny little table in the afternoons, I might have to move it in the summer, but it is perfect for these winter days!

Hope you all had great weekends

my creative space.... softie on the go....

Today I am working on a new softie.
Hope to have it finished soon, it should look quite cute if it turns out how I imagine it.
But that doesn't always happen!

Today is my bloggy birthday, 12 months ago exactly from my first post, I am surprised and pleased that I have managed to blog for a whole year, I thought i would lose interest or life would get in the way, but no, I am really enjoying the whole blog experience and the extended community of supportive bloggers are pretty amazing!! Thank you for reading my stuff and for coming back!

So, to mark this occasion I am planning a Birthday give away which I will post about soon! Detail to follow, not sure what it will be yet, but it will be good!
